January: 3 things challenge

TrialOfStyle · 29/12/2020 15:04

I want to spend January doing three positive things each day - does anyone want to join me to have help keeping accountable?

My focus is getting my physical well-being back on track (I’ve put on a stone in the past year and exercise dropped from 5 days per week to zero). And I need to start saving and decluttering my life.

Here’s mine:

  1. List one thing for sale on eBay/FB/Gumtree everyday
  2. Do at least 10 mins exercise
  3. Be alcohol free

Any friendly people looking to create some positive goals?

I'd like to add 1x10k run to my routine. So my weekly aim is 2x5km, 2x10km

I'm going to do dry January with a view to something (I don't know what yet) longer term.

Will have to ponder the 3rd one. (Shifting their lbs put on over Xmas doesn't count for me)

I'm going sugar free/continuing dairy and gluten free.

Not weighing myself (sorry that's a 4th, but it's a big one for me!

@BrassicaBabe Are you running 2 x 5km and 1 x 10km at the moment? How did you build up to running like that? I used to run 5km regularly but would always get crippling pains in my ankle (I think from an old fracture).

I did Dry January last year and felt much better - but it will be nice to have some people to keep accountable with as I think it’s going to be harder this year!

@thenewaveragebear1983 I completely agree with not weighing! It gets painful obsessive (and depressing).

Is Adriene’s new yoga on YouTube? I’d love to look into that an incorporate that once or twice a week.

She does a 30 days thing every January, I think you can find it on YouTube or on her website. A new one is ousted every day for 30 days or you can just dip in to them on YouTube, there's hundreds

Ohh, were is this please?

RaffertyBear · 30/12/2020 13:06

Oppps! I will go and seek.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 30/12/2020 13:33

The new one is called 'breath' so if you search that you should find it @RaffertyBear

It's here, and there's a sign up link too

In case anyone else is looking for it.

BrassicaBabe · 30/12/2020 14:19

@TrialOfStyle yep. I'm doing 2 x 5km and 1 x 10km. Then every other week I replace the 10km with a longer run increasing by 1km every fortnight. I'm up to 17k.

I started with c25k. That enabled me to do 3x5k. Then I gradually increased the weekend run to 10K.

I just increase my distances really slowly. I also slow my pace right down in order to up my distance.

(It makes fuck all difference to my weight!)

@BrassicaBabe that's great, are you working towards a half marathon? You're nearly there.
