How has this year changed your parenting

What with extended times at home, home schooling and bored kids wondering if your parenting style has changed?

Mine has, especially this new Tier 4 lockdown - and I’ve learned to accept that sometimes the kids will be bored and it’s something that I can not always solve or feel guilty about.
I’ve learned that my gang don’t do enough around the house - whereas before this year life was 100mph and quicker to do stuff myself. This year it’s been eye opening how much me and OH do and the kids don’t.

Oh and also how emotionally draining growing a family is, and that it’s ok for me to need to recharge as well.

I've chilled out about xbox use, got the kids doing more, I've let the kids be bored and challenged then as to what they can do instead, we have more family walks, I've encouraged ds2 13 to be responsible for himself with showers, bedtimes, homework, meaningful occupation. I'm around if he wants back up, but handed the baton to him. So far so good. Worked well with ds1 but ds2 completely different in personality and priorities

Similar to the above - the PS4 has been a godsend as in SI or when their bubble was closed it was the only way DS could be social with his friends and I enjoyed hearing them chatting and laughing. DS (12) has become more independent and I’ve taught him to fix himself lunch, do his washing etc. We have spent a lot of time as a family and have enjoyed watching things like Miranda and Vicar of Dibley together.
