Electric bills!

Santastealer · 28/12/2020 21:52

Anyone else found their electric bill has crept up?

Mine is now tipping over £100 a month! I’ve swapped suppliers recently and it hasn’t made a difference and also have a smart meter.

Any tips for getting the bill down a bit?

What are you using that uses electricity?
Tumble dryer, shower, oven, etc
Mine is about £80 and I also have gas central heating which was about £50 last month

@dementedpixie

Oven
Washer
Tumble drier (been on once today)
Emersion heater for water (I know this is a big factor!)
4 bedrooms worth of lights

Do you have electric heating or gas?

Santastealer · 28/12/2020 22:02

We don’t have any gas but we do have oil powered heating and that’s around £40-£60 a month depending on oil prices.

How long are you leaving the immersion heater on? Is it an electric shower that heats its own water?

DrDreReturns · 28/12/2020 22:04

I'm sure I've spent more on energy as I'm working from home this winter and I'm spending more on heating and light etc

Santastealer · 28/12/2020 22:07

Yes shower is electric and heats it’s own water. Immersion is on for 45 minutes in a morning and 45 in an evening to provide water for the kids baths and washing up, cleaning etc. Sadly the boiler doesn’t work at heating the water!
