Has anyone here made any new year resolutions? If so, care to share them here? Looking for ideas.

None?

Not really as it's hard to know what next year will bring. I just want to be able to go out for a coffee without fear of Covid but that's not really a resolution.

None.

No, always break then 5 min into the new year Smile

I add mine at the start of the year to my online calendar - they pop up once a week to remind me. That helps although this year I changed my mind on a couple and stopped. I'd like to take up a hobby. And find a YouTube channel with music I like that shows aerobics workouts. I don't want to go to a gym but would like to do some exercise and I enjoy dancing.

That same as every year.
lose weight to drop 2 dress sizes
Read more books (I’m aiming for 12)
Exercise
Go out, explore and see friends.

I love a New Years resolution (I believe I may be the only person who genuinely looks forward to new year!)

This year is to maintain the budget. I have it all worked out and we are comfortable enough if I stick to it, but it's so easy to slip a little. We also have a couple of more expensive holidays booked (whether they'll go ahead or not is another matter) so I need to be firm so that we can actually enjoy them.

Secondly to get fit. I had a fairly major back injury over the summer and have done literally no exercise since. While I'm not fully recovered yet, I do need to do something to shake myself out of my torpor. Also hopefully it will strengthen my back which in itself will be a help.

I may also do Dry January. My liver would likely appreciate it Grin

Eat less and move around more.

BarryWhiteIsMyBrother · 29/12/2020 17:12

@ILiveInSalemsLotI'd love to read more but I have become addicted to YouTube. When I do start a book I enjoy I read it back-to-back in a couple of days and wonder why I don't read more. Then I pick up my phone, click on the red icon, and I'm sucked back into the depths of YT.

@Champagneforeveryone I actually enjoy working out a budget and try to stick to it (even it, luckily, I don't need to). But I also love shopping. And I like expensive treats. But, 'thanks' to Covid, my shopping has been less and less expensive in 2020. And I didn't actually miss anything much. So maybe I could make it a resolution/challenge to stick to my budget in 2021...

Self care in any form
Mum's can't run indefinitely on empty as I've recently discovered

I set myself a target of reading 50 books in 2020. I’m currently reading book 67 so I’ve achieved that. I’d like to exceed that number in 2021.
I’d also set myself a target of more trips, both abroad and in the U.K. but obviously didn’t succeed with that.

BarryWhiteIsMyBrother · 29/12/2020 17:28

Do you read most of your spare time? Or do you manage to also watch TV and do anything else? I just feel that after a long day at my desk I want to relax on the sofa and watch something easy on TV (before going to be and watching videos on YT :-( )

I don’t think I’d be able to remember that many books! Can you remember all of them?
Ginisatonic · 29/12/2020 17:51

I have made a note of the titles and authors on my phone and yes if I look at the list I do remember the story lines.
I always watch some TV in the evening.
