Lockdown birthday!

It's my dcs 10th birthday next week and for obvious reasons all our plans have been cancelled. I'm actually quite upset for them, so if you or your dc had a birthday during lockdown what did you do? I need some ideas.

Anyone?

DD1’s was spent in full isolation due to her teacher testing positive. We did presents (obviously), spent the day playing with her new things, made her favourite lunch, zoomed family in for blowing out candles on the cake and then wrapped up and made s’mores on the fire pit outside. Then had a ‘cinema’ evening with popcorn. Very low key but she enjoyed it.
DD2’s was in the summer when things were a bit easier so she had a friend to play in the garden.
DS’s is next week, we’ll just do similar to DD1‘s I guess. Haven’t thought about it yet!

DD turned 9. I made an Among Us birthday card and an Among Us cake, sang happy birthday, played with toys, video chatted with people. Not much, but enough, she's quite easy-going.

There’s apparently various “party games” that you can access as part of Zoom - DD has been on a couple of Zoom parties that have used them. I know of others that have sent out an activity to friends houses for them all to do together on Zoom (eg board game, craft, gingerbread house). But mostly (including us) it’s been a case of allowing them to do more of what we normally limit, eg spend whole afternoon on Minecraft with friends, or watching films snuggled under blanket with lots of sweets. Then made a cake and had takeaway for tea.

Basically you let them do exactly what they want for a change. On my birthday, DH working, kids schooling so I took myself out for a very long walk armed with lots of chocolate, got home and curled up under a blanket with a good book then forced them all to play board games with me and watch a film.

DD is just grateful that she now doesn’t have mocks on her birthday!

We just planned the whole weekend around DS (turned 9). So he chose all meals, all activities and all TV viewing. Ended up being a lot of fun!

It’s my DS’s birthday soon and I’ve hired a teepee company to come in (well, drop the stuff off at my door for me to set up!) so we can have a special sleepover. We have a projector so I’m doing a cinema night as well and we’ll have a takeaway

My DD turned 9 in lockdown last year. We went for a walk at a local nature reserve, had a picnic in the garden, got the paddling pool out (early June), had a dominos take away for tea and watched a film of her choice. I made her a Roblox cake too.
