Board Games for 2 players

Can anyone recommend board games for 2 players ? Not monopoly as my other half won't play with me 🙄 and already have scrabble.

Pandemic works well with two (have been obsessed with it since Christmas day)

Twilight Struggle is definitely for the more experienced board gamer, though - if OP is talking about Monopoly and Scrabble, that’s going to be quite a leap up. I’d second Carcassonne and add Gloom (Edward Gorey-style card game).

Backgammon?

Definitely Carcassonne, ticket to ride. There are some websites for games where you put on how many players etc. Lots of continental ones are good, not just the traditional British ones like monopoly.

Power grid is our favy. I also like suburbia.
Forbidden island, and forbidden desert are coop games by the same people who make pandemic. Quite good.

Citadels and coup.

We also have a good 2 player one about owning islands, it's out of print in English but available in German and you can download the English translation, I can't remember it's name though. Begins with K I think. Unhelpful I know!

Some of these are quick and just for fun, like Dobble and Pass the Pigs. Some are a bit more involved!

I agree, definitely wouldn't start with twilight struggle, it can be like wading through tar at times!

Another for Pandemic or Lords of Waterdeep here.

Clank and Ticket to Ride are also good.
