Where was this park? (North or East of London)

A couple of years ago I went on a lovely autumn walk in a new location. Despite having googled its remembered characteristics, and checking image search of any contenders, I’ve completely forgotten where it was!
Hoping that if I post some details, someone can help me identify where we went.

  • It would be within an hour’s drive North or East of London - Herts, Essex, possibly Suffolk
  • I think we paid for parking and it might have been EH or NT
  • There was a car park by the main entrance by the road. And a second car park quite a long drive in, located next to the cafe area.
  • The cafe have built a sort of sheltered building with tabled seating
  • From the cafe area you pass a historic church (?) building on the right, and walk along a raised pathway cutting across/next to a lake

Reading this back this all looks very generic!

It could be Hatfield Forest in Essex - not sure there’s a church but the two car parks and a lake sound familiar.

Yes, definitely sounds like Hatfield forest. It is NT.
