Have you any advice (other than down the drain) for cocktails or mixed drinks using tequila and strawberry gin. Not necessarily at the same time.
One is left from my terrible attempt at margaritas, the rest are random Christmas presents. I have quite the selection of other booze and mixers so go for it.

Anyone??

And banana rum too😊

No but I created a new cocktail called a Magic V.

Bloodhoundgang · 28/12/2020 14:32

V due to 5 drinks or an homage to having similar effects to Penecillin V🤣 (pretty sure anything I create errs on the latter rather than former🤣)

I have no idea but I'm imagining strawberry gin would go well with either elderflower or cucumber tonic. Maybe because I'm getting a Pimms kind of vibe from it.

picklemewalnuts · 28/12/2020 16:19

Strawberry gin in trifle, or with lemonade.

purrswhileheeats · 28/12/2020 16:29

Actually prosecco with a dash of Vimto 😜

I am allergic to penicillin though Shock

Bloodhoundgang · 28/12/2020 19:47

Thank you all.
@purrswhileheeats that sounds like a chambord substitute 😍
Trife for strawberry gin sounds genius @picklemewalnuts. @giletrouge I cannot abide cucumber myself but you may be on to something there, could pawn it off in a punch in the future when we can socialise again.

Tequila sunrise or a Paloma, I guess. (I suppose I am an imbiber. But mixed drinks aren't my forte.)

An alcoholic banana shake or rum punch.

3 parts Banana liqueur, 3 parts vodka (gin, rum...), 1-2 part simple syrup, 1 egg yolk, nutmeg and about 2 parts heavy cream (whip it until stiff). Throw everything together. Shake well. You can also add real bananas if you blend them beforehand.

I'd be very surprised if you couldn't make this with the banana rum. But it's really heavy.... (I haven't had one of these in a very long timeBlush)

giletrouge · 28/12/2020 20:22

Ah you see I, too, cannot be doing with cucumber as a vegetable, but as a booze flavouring it's a different proposition, I feel.

Bloodhoundgang · 28/12/2020 20:26

Ooooh a banana milkshake for adults. Sounds delightful. No clue why we even have banana rum. I suspect DH thought it was dark rum 🤣
Sadly I cannot even handle the smell of cucumber... Even in my drink. Limits my imbibing a bit🤣

Strawberry gin I'd try with lemonade probably. I'm not a liqueur gin fan though. Orange ish gin is the most bold I go with gin.
Banana rum is have to bin. Bad experiences

MispyM · 28/12/2020 21:16

It really is rather lovely. They were quite popular when I went to uni... 😅 (the egg yolk is optional, btw.)

Cheers. 🍹 I hope you get to enjoy your stash Wink (strawberry gin in trifle sounds delicious imo).

AnathemaPulsifer · 28/12/2020 21:23

Try again with the margaritas. Equal parts tequila, triple sec and freshly squeezed lime juice. Run the squeezed lime around the rim of your glass and dip in salt. Yum.

FuckOffDailyFailure · 28/12/2020 21:24

Oh yes, I know a cocktail with tequila...it's called a devil's something or other and has ginger ale and cassis in it. Hang on, I'll have a look for the recipe.

Strawberry gin makes a nice martini.

Bloodhoundgang · 28/12/2020 22:46

You people are all legends!! Going to try another margarita. We also have the makings of the el diablo...
