Butter wouldnt melt - what?

What does this even mean? So if butter wouldn't melt, all this means is that you have an unusually cold mouth. It doesnt mean that you are somehow more innocent than someone with a more normal warm mouth. Can anyone explain the meaning behind this saying?

It means you’re so cool about something that butter wouldn’t melt in your mouth. As opposed to being worked up I guess.

It doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re innocent, just that you’re acting all innocent IYSWIM.

I think it means cool and calm:- when you get flustered and guilty you tend to get hot and flushed.

Yep it's said about someone who isn't as well behaved as their cool calm exterior would have you believe.

Think small angelic blonde ringleted toddler - who has just pulled all the heads off the flowers, but looks so innocent.

It doesn't mean you're innocent.

It means you're cool, calm and collected, so butter wouldn't melt (as you're cool, as opposed to hot and worked up).
