Not sure if there’s been one of these before but am offering my services. Have tested positive for Covid, no idea where I got it from. Happy to take questions!

How are you feeling? I'm on day 8 of isolation due to testing positive and just starting to feel a bit more human.

Northernsoullover · 27/12/2020 17:08

Where do you think you might have got it from if you work back 5 days from symptom onset? Not knowing would drive me scatty! My partner has just tested positive but we know who he got it from (work).

I’m feeling ok. Main symptoms are headache and achey limbs with some shortness of breath. Originally thought I had a head cold as I had a streaming nose and mass sneezing, then developed a fever so got tested. Head cold cleared up after a day or so. Had a feeling it would be positive due to the breathing issue, and it feels different to a cold somehow but difficult to explain.

Really don’t know where I got it from - have worked from home since March and been really careful. We ate out earlier this week though (tier 2 area) so could be there, or possibly from the supermarket (I went on Tues - usually get online deliveries but couldn’t get a slot this week)

@moglovesmincepies 8 days! You poor thing - glad to hear you’re feeling better now though

I hope your ok
Have you ever had a worse flu ?
Are you in any way afraid?

MassDebate · 27/12/2020 18:04

I’ve felt worse definitely. Am worried about long covid, not necessarily about what I currently have. I’m fit and not in an at risk group so there’s no reason to think I won’t recover within a few days. I am worried about DH or the DC getting it though.

Sorry to hear you're feeling unwell Thanks

Yes, there have been many threads like this since before March because as you can imagine on a website as big as Mumsnet, lots of people have had Covid.

liverpool1981 · 27/12/2020 18:09

That's good news
Ref your family my sister was away for weekend with a group and lifted a girl's drink who had covid and she didn't get it
Also her partner then got it from another person and her and my niece didn't get it

middleager · 27/12/2020 18:11

Tell me about the sneezing.

I am repeatedly sneezing today and my eyes streaming. I must have sneezed 100 times and I can't figure out why.

Is this what happened to you?

mandaloriancovid · 27/12/2020 18:16

How did your start? I quite suddenly got blocked nose and slight throat ache on Friday night. Bad teeth pain too and I had to take cocodamol because paracetamol wasn't enough. I am slowly getting better what I think is sinusitis. I don't have any of the typical symptoms so I haven't tested.

SoggyBiscuitss · 27/12/2020 18:33

My first symptom was waking up feeling much more tired than usual.
Then the tiredness didn’t lift.
Then day 2 my throat was really sore and continued for 3 days.
Day 3 I was boiling hot and kept sneezing.

Back to normal by day 6.

My DD literally had a two day cough and head ache and was done.

My DH & DS Had tiredness and loss of taste and nothing else.

So we’ve been lucky.

Results took less than 24 hours and were sent by text & email.

3 months on we’re perfectly fine.

Got it from our DS school

Kez200 · 27/12/2020 19:30

What was the test like?

Are you coughing anything up? I've ended up with antibiotics for a chest infection so ring your gp if you are. Mine was sinus pain then temp day after.
BananaPop2020 · 27/12/2020 19:41

Husband took a test yesterday after feeling a bit off for a couple of days and we are both now going downhill. I have terrible muscle aches, lethargy and impaired taste, he has a cough, sneezes and no sense of taste or smell whatsoever. I actually hope, in a bizarre way, that it is a positive as then we have finally got it out of the way - I have long felt getting it was inevitable.

MassDebate · 27/12/2020 19:44

No cough to speak of. Did have sinus pain and jaw ache which I thought was a heavy cold coming on.

Sneezed about a million times yesterday; not at all today. Cold symptoms have eased hugely and now I have more muscle fatigue.

I tested at a drive in centre where they give you a pack and you test yourself without leaving the car. It’s the same as an at home test but the results are much faster (I did a test at home a few months ago and it took 5 days to get results, this time took less than 24 hours). The test is a bit unpleasant (you have to rub the test stick over your tonsils, which made me gag) but fine.

With hindsight I’ve been waking up feeling unrested and with a headache for a few days.

My DD is at the tail end of her isolation. Very few symptoms, mostly mild anosmia and maybe feeling slightly ropey for a day or two.
We have found track and trace pretty hopeless but found an online way to submit.
How long did it take track and trace to get back to you OP?

Plussizejumpsuit · 27/12/2020 19:53

How do you think you got it?

Plussizejumpsuit · 27/12/2020 19:55

Oh sorry your op says you don't know! OK how careful were you being?

MassDebate · 27/12/2020 20:05

Had been v careful - followed all the rules and haven’t mixed with anyone indoors for months. Literally no idea where I got it from.

I was sent an email with a link to submit details for track and trace, not that I had much to offer them. They messaged DH confirming he needs to self isolate within a few mins of me submitting.
