Apart from no-one wearing hats, I'm really enjoying this.

binged watched it yesterday - really enjoyed it. A little bit of escapism

TheSilentStars · 27/12/2020 15:13

There's a thread in Telly Addicts I think.
I'm saving it for when I have an empty house for an afternoon.

GreySilk · 27/12/2020 15:14

I must have a look. It's a great empty house watch.

Watching it now, on episode 3. Started yesterday evening as an antidote to the incredibly boring Midnight Sky.

Loving it so far!

Mooey89 · 27/12/2020 15:19

Watched them all yesterday! Loved it!

2typesofjungle · 27/12/2020 15:27

I'm absolutely loving it, definitely lacking in hats though!

WilyKit · 27/12/2020 15:39

I adore it! It is so cosy and preposterous, just what we all need

I like Eloise.

Bloody loving it! Halfway through. Hope they do more series with the other characters. Shonda is a TV genius.

madrose · 27/12/2020 15:44

just downloaded the first book to continue with the escapism

Bearnecessity · 27/12/2020 15:57

Binge watched yesterday and today, just what I needed.....thank you Netflix....

QueenofLouisiana · 27/12/2020 16:01

We are spacing out the watching, otherwise we’ll end up with nothing to watch. Thoroughly enjoying a bit of light relief!

Ultimateblends · 27/12/2020 16:05

Binged it all day yesterday and loved it!

Except the sex scenes got a little too much in the end, as in, keep showing them over and over and over again- we get it! We get whats happening here, we get why we might need to see a few, but FFS - AGAIN?!?!?!?!

I fast forwarded the last couple of sex scenes because I couldn't sit through any more (and im not a prude, it was just too much!)

Its light, daft, brilliantly fun entertainment. I loved it and wish I had saved some for today!

HugeAckmansWife · 27/12/2020 16:28

binged it all yesterday - definitely sub Jane Austen but perfectly fun and with all those siblings, lots of potential for future stories - I guessed the ID of Whistledown pretty early on though. As for the sex scenes - the Duke is HOT so that's fine by me Grin

Mominatrix · 27/12/2020 16:42

It’s a 21st c politically correct version of Gossip Girl mashed up with a Regency romance. Entertaining, but very fluffy.

Mominatrix · 27/12/2020 16:44

TBH, I’d have been happier with an adaptation of the Audley series by Georgette Heyerdahl.

Mominatrix · 27/12/2020 16:44

Heyer!

Spudina · 27/12/2020 16:45

Loved it. Watched 7 yesterday and last one today. I love a good TV binge at the time, but then feel like I would have taken more in had I paced myself a bit if that makes sense.

This review is what will make me watch it 😂 I’ve been wholly unconvinced as a fan of ‘proper’ period drama. A lazy one for cluster feeding perhaps!
Londonnight · 27/12/2020 16:48

Watched two episodes today and thoroughly enjoying it.

ilovebagpuss · 27/12/2020 17:08

I love the clothes, the colours all that clashing silk and flowers and gaudy jewels! Feel like my retinas are being burnt out in a good way Grin

Itstheprinciple · 27/12/2020 18:27

Just had a lovely afternoon with a post covid migraine and snuggly cats watching this. About half way through.

Oh totally agree with your Duke comment, he is beyond lustyGrin
Itstheprinciple · 28/12/2020 22:02

Yay, guessed Whistledown!

Slightly lost now I've finished it.

ManxRhyme · 28/12/2020 22:08

I loved it! Not as funny as the books and lots more sex but I've thoroughly enjoyed it. Julia Quinn was always my go to for escapism so thank you Netflix for making 2020 a bit less crappy.
