Hidden figures

Soutiner · 27/12/2020 13:58

On YouTube.

Leave her to Heaven. 1945 but in colour.

One of my favourite films and favourites actresses.

Soutiner · 27/12/2020 14:00

Marnie 1964. Superb Hitchcock film.

mum2jakie · 27/12/2020 14:00

If you're happy with fictional characters - The Help is highly recommended

xsquared · 27/12/2020 14:01

I second Hidden Figures.
Suffragette

Tiredmum100 · 27/12/2020 14:01

Was just going to say hidden figures as well. It was in last night.

Soutiner · 27/12/2020 14:03

Most Bette Davis films in her early years.

Of human bondage is exceptionally good. 1934.

MeadowHay · 27/12/2020 14:03

Haha, I was going to say Hidden Figures as it was on last night, wasn't it? I watched it in the cinema when it came out. I was then going to say The Help once I saw someone had already mentioned Hidden Figures, and then scrolled down to see someone had already recommended that too!

Soutiner · 27/12/2020 14:03

All about Eve. 1950

ChristmasStartedAlready · 27/12/2020 14:05

Brilliant thanks. Looking them up. Reckon I can fit another couple in.

All About Eve
Now Voyager
Carol - haven't seen this one, but my son gave me the book it was based on. Haven't got very far with it (my fault, not the book's) but far enough to see it was going to centre on two women. One is played by Cate Blanchett in the film, I see, so that would be enough to make me watch it if I ever get the chance.
Brooklyn
The Silver Linings Playbook
Never Let Me Go
Lady Bird

Sunnysausage · 27/12/2020 14:08

Depends how you define interesting I suppose... Notes on a scandal? Single White Female? Basic Instinct? Fatal Attraction? Sister Act Grin??

minou123 · 27/12/2020 14:09

Brooklyn

Just watched it on Amazon Prime, but I think it is on BBC iplayer.

littlekipling · 27/12/2020 14:09

Shinylikeglass · 27/12/2020 14:10

I love Hidden Figures

Enjoy is probably the wrong word but Let Me Go is an interesting film with all female leads.

eddiemairswife · 27/12/2020 14:10

The help

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 27/12/2020 14:15

An Education
Tiger Bay - I saw this for the first time recently and was blown away by how good Hayley Mills was. She must have been about 9 when it was made. That may not be quite what you had in mind, though!

BuffaloCauliflower · 27/12/2020 14:16

On The Basis Of Sex about Ruth Bader Ginsburg is excellent

LovingLen · 27/12/2020 14:17

Three billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri, Frances McDormand is in it, it is very good

Maturestudentneedshelp · 27/12/2020 14:19

Wendy and Lucy (if you don't mind crying a lot).

Pomelos · 27/12/2020 14:23

Not a film but Harlots on BBC has some really interesting female characters.
