Carcassonne help, please!

Trying to teach myself this game, before we learn how to play it as a family.

The rule book shows and describes monasteries as surrounded by fields. This looks like a monastery but has a road leading to it - is it a monastery?

Can I place a meeple as a monk on this tile?

Yes and Yes!
I'd leave out the river tiles whilst you get used the basic game.

Yes, that tile is a monestry and also ends a road.

When we were learning we left out both the river tiles and the farmers to make it simpler for the dc.

Yep, you can get monasteries with roads like that or alone in the middle of a field.

The app is currently reduced to £2.49, and teaches you the rules a bit easier than the instructions do although that might be less fun!

I love carcassone. It's super addictive - you'll have all the expansion packs before you know it!

I had a look at this app by Asmodee Digital. The reviews are not encouraging. I know for sure that I would not cope with swooping 3d animation.

Any recommendations for an Apple app to help me learn the rules?
