Grin you've tasted my cooking then MissConduct Grin
Not proofreading will be my downfall, luckily I'm more thorough at work (mostly)

Taswama · 05/01/2021 19:09

DS1 declined to make / help make tea yesterday so today I insisted. He chose to make mashed potato and didn't agree that it wasn't really a meal. I decided to let him get on with it and made him a chickpea salad from my vegan cookbook to have on the side, which he was happy enough to eat.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 05/01/2021 19:11

My had hurts (migraine) so I assume it must be getting warmer again. You know how the air is when it is cold but not really cold enough? The air feels wet. Work went more or less OK

I never had a milkshake (don't really like milk) or an omelette (prefer my eggs nicely baked into a cake) - but DD thinks they are great.

Iveputmyselfonthenaughtystep · 05/01/2021 19:13

I just did two exceptionally satisfying sneezes.

soddingkitten · 05/01/2021 19:17

I had to put the toilet seat down when I got home from work. The house has been all chaps all day, including Sodding.

My chicken curry worked out well. DS1 said I should follow the same recipe next time. 🤔 I never follow a recipe. I use up what needs eating up. Every one is an artisan, bespoke curry. 😆

Squirrel26 · 05/01/2021 19:23

At lunch time the men with the ladders set off the fire alarm (intentionally, apparently). Then in the afternoon they did some drilling and had a loud conversation about ‘brackets’.

The carpet cleaner does indeed have a sample bottle of cleaning solution in with it, but I’m not sure how big it is.

Squirrel26 · 05/01/2021 19:27

(The bottle of cleaning solution. I can see how big the carpet cleaner is. Although to be honest I have not opened the box, and I’m not sure if it’s fully assembled.)

MissConductUS · 05/01/2021 19:30

Welcome @Iveputmyselfonthenaughtystep and thanks for your sternutation news.

Were these small, ladylike sneezes or big ripping ones you could hear down the street? If the latter, that might be a bit too exciting. Grin

Iveputmyselfonthenaughtystep · 05/01/2021 19:38

Sorry but they were loud enough to disturb a sleeping cat and give me a slightly raw throat.

I'll get my coat...

MissConductUS · 05/01/2021 19:42

Hold on @Iveputmyselfonthenaughtystep I've consulted the managing director and she'd like you to stay. We need more sternutation discussions. Grin

Oh, and sleeping cats be damned. Mine wake up when they hear a can tin being opened.

Mine are having a bad day today. They also were looking forward to children going back to school. They are unimpressed to see them still taking up the kitchen sofa. I think the sneezes were just the straw that broke the camel's back

MissConductUS · 05/01/2021 19:55

All kidding aside, trying to manage kids through remote learning is a nightmare for everyone and will leave them all with catching up to do when in-person classes resume again. Cats are habitually indignant regardless.

Again, welcome. I'm glad you've joined us.

On the topic of sneezes - when I was a little girl and learning to iron I always wondered why ladies' handkerchives were 20x20 squares with damnably hard to iron lace edges and men's were useful, sturdy 30x30 squares.

soddingkitten · 05/01/2021 20:09

DH tested the microwave door again earlier today. He said he didn’t even have to open the back door. Opening and closing the microwave door was enough to summon Sodding at speed through the cat flap.
Imissmoominmama · 05/01/2021 20:20

My dog stinks.

MissConductUS · 05/01/2021 20:35

Welcome, @Imissmoominmama, and thanks for your olfactory news.

My DD refers to one of our cats as "Stinky" when she's in a mood.

OP posts:
Imissmoominmama · 05/01/2021 21:12

Thank you @MissConductUS. They both stink actually; the male has terrible wind atm, and the female lets off fishy blasts from time to time- not often, but she’d just let one go as I was reading the thread.

kittlesticks · 05/01/2021 21:38

@Frownette sorry - I haven't looked again at the thread until now. Just been one of those days really.
I suppose I like my job when people are all in a good mood and we have a fun idea to put into action, but today wasn't like that. I did advise a lot of students today tho and as a student advisor I suppose that counts as a decent enough day.
About to open the bedroom window to ensure our friend the owl can tell us all his woes! Better than a Boris press conference.
Lockdown 3 in the UK but felt like the same level of traffic round by us.
Oh and in a total disaster (as we've recently moved) we put our bin out on the wrong day Blush and I'm sure several of the neighbours are now judging us for not checking the Xmas disruption leaflet!!
How mundane! Night all.

Silkiechickscat · 05/01/2021 22:08

We are having pancakes and cider. DS had ham then one with nutella, I had smoked salmon and cream cheese and then one with nutella, too bad for DD she became vegan.

Going to have hot chocolate made with melted chocolate and the milk frother. DS is super excited about that. DH is also happy to play with his new gadget.

MissConductUS · 05/01/2021 22:18

Goodnight @kittlesticks, sweet dreams. 😊

halfpasteleven · 05/01/2021 22:32

Those pancakes sound delicious @Silkiechickscat.

I have definitely eaten too much chocolate today.

NotanotherboxofFrogs · 06/01/2021 00:41

In holding off on getting the big tub of ice cream syrup, what if it isn't the same and then I have only of it. Decisions.

I have started doing an inventory of my kitchen cupboards with an app on my phone so thats going to take me days.

I went to the local chemist and picked up my partners script this evening, it hadn't been sent down from the Drs surgery so I had to ring them to ask for them to phone it down as partner is currently at his parents and the family are isolating but tested negative but avoiding people as most likely chest infection. I go back to the chemist tomorrow to pick up my own scripts as I am on weekly collections.

EggNogPegg · 06/01/2021 00:55

Mmmm. Pancakes. I haven't had pancakes for ages.

I spent today writing addresses on envelopes so that every child in my school can have a pack containing resources for home learning. I did about 90% of the children. It was suitably mundane, but there were Heroes chocolates, so that helped.

The DC enjoyed being at school today with limited others. We had confirmation that we've got the spaces we asked for (full time), so it's business as usual at Eggy Towers. DS1s drum lessons will move back online though and it looks like DS2 will be on a break after just one piano lesson. He was pleased that his music book arrived today though.

I'm in bed and EggyCat1 is atop me. She is very needy tonight. I just looked up to see that she's forgotten to put her tongue away post groom.

Frownette · 06/01/2021 03:25

@EggyPegg ha! I love it when they do that!

@kittlesticks you're fine, we're in a complete state of disarray with bins at present. Yesterday morning when I heard the lorry and had to make a mad dash downstairs to get recycling out and pinged around several cans and bits of plastic in my haste.

I oh so hope black bins are Friday as normal, we're getting really muddled. Anyone would forgive you!
