Disclaimer, not all PILs are like this. My MIL is lovely so no mean comments about me claiming that all in-laws are like this.
However, DS’s ‘nanny’ (step nanny) and Grandad text him on Christmas Day and may or may not bother on his 18th in a few weeks. His bio nanny never bothers. For years and years I offered contact but gave up at about the age of 13 after getting nowhere. It’s so hurtful that he’s seen as something that can basically be taken down off a shelf once or twice a year, dusted off and said hello too. He’s lovely and doesn’t deserve it. His father doesn’t bother either. No Christmas or birthday card/present in years. He sunk to his lowest a few years ago when he took him window shopping right before Christmas and then bought him zilch.
Anyone else?
