Apple lightning cable

Hi all,

As could've been predicted after a year of use my lightning charger is/has given up the ghost and I have finally run out of spares!
I remember a long time ago that buying a non apple brand charger was a massive no go and just wouldn't work. Is this still the case? Do I really need to fork out £19 for an apple charger!

Any insights would be great!

I figure why spend several hundred pounds then risk it with a cheapo cable?

As long as it is mfi certified it is ok. Amazon sell plenty of them but the mfi certified is the important bit. Amazon basics cables are fine. I also like Belkin ones. Wouldn’t risk a pound shop one though.

One of the Amazon cables I use has outlasted 2 Apple cables.

We use the Amazon basics braided cables, never had one break on me yet. 3m ones mean you can charge and play at the same time.

I just bought a 3 pack form Amazon for less than £6, work perfectly

Anker or Amazon basics cables are fine.

I recently bought an Apple certified cable and plug for £14 from B&M bargains.

I have three of these and even with daily use they have lasted 5 years.
