Christmas hits and misses

What have been the winners and losers in the present stakes in your house this Christmas? My DS1 (10) LOVES a relatively inexpensive toy that shoots a wheel up into the sir or along the floor and has spent hours playing with it ignoring the pricier pressies!
In other news my DM bought me a 'cake belt' to make sure the tops of my cakes are flat in future, wtaf? A lovely thought but flat cake tops are the very least of the things I worry about at night when I am trying to sleep and I can't see myself adding extra faff to baking.
What about your household, what's been a huge success this year?

Hit: lots of gin!

Miss: M&S vegetarian festive wreath - everyone left it (including me)

Hit for ds. Go-pro style camera
Miss for him. A kilo of nutella. He's not a fan of chocolate

Bonus hit for me. A kilo of nutella, from ds!

@MacDuffsMuff

Hit - Driving lessons for DS, clothes for DD, tablet for DH and KitchenAid for me (been longing for one for years so it was a lovely surprise).

Misses - someone bought DD a game for age 3 - 6 years. She's 14. Grin

Not a Christmas present - apologies - but for his 57th birthday this year, his own father gave him a jigsaw map of the world for 4-year-olds. We gave it to our neighbours, who have an actual 4-year-old.

Hits: a couple of joint presents for the DSs - an assortment of wooden blocks from Bauspiel and a marble run. Misses: DS2's main present was a doll and a sling to carry it in. He has played with the doll but didn't want to try the sling at all.

Hits: Dd loved her books, colouring pencils and Doctor Who T-Shirt.
Dh and his new board game.
I love my new colouring book and pencils.

Misses: ds' new bike was far too big for him despite ordering the "recommended" size online. We'll need to go back to Halfords and reorder.
For me, I opened a self help book from dh on CBT and paused for a bit before going into the kitchen to cry. I know he would never knowingly upset me and he's been brilliant at supporting me these last few months with my depression. I have felt better over the last few weeks and for some reason, the book just triggered me.

Hit - a blanket for DS2 (16) from my mum - he had never shown an interest and hasn't unwrapped himself from it since he opened it

Miss - Cards against Humanity family edition - just not funny enough, sadly.

Hits: tickets to a show, such a hit both DH and I bought them for eachother. I git a pair of roller skates (so so excited on Christmas morning). DDs loved most of their gifts although surprise hit of one of those scrapy foil/black things. DD 2 is obsessed with it.

Miss: nothing really, I actually did some good shopping this year.

Hit: x-rocker for adhd DS who can fidget watching tv/playing his switch without wandering around 24/7! He had no idea whereas most of his gifts were things he'd asked for. Lego bases for my brother. The cheapest gift yet his favourite overall!

Misses: BYO forky. I thought DS would be happier with it as he really likes toy story and forky's adventures on disney+. I got far too many bath products - all lovely and actually thought out as to scents etc but I have nowhere to put them!

Hit for DS1 age 14 was a cork globe with drawing pins that have the flags of the world on them. Also after insisting he didn’t want wireless ear Buds he’s been using the (cheap) ones I popped in his stocking a lot!
Hit for DD was a grey version of the pink teddy bear jacket she wears everywhere. The grey one hasn’t been taken off since yesterday I don’t think! She also loved her phone upgrade.
I don’t think anything’s been a particular miss. I only got 4 presents (as me and DH didn’t do presents, DH family decided not to do presents as SIL is currently unemployed since coming back from Dubai in the summer so only did presents of kids) and my sister went bankrupt this year so again only presents for kids) so had presents from the 3 kids (we gave them money to get each other and me and DH a present each so got slippers, new phone case and some jelly art tools.
