Expectations vs reality - Christmas Day

Expectation - children wake up around 7, bring stockings to our bed and look at what's inside for 20 mins whilst we have a lie in.

Reality- children awake at 6, open stockings within 5 mins. Want to get up.

E- we all eat breakfast then open presents one by one.

R- children open all presents in one go without knowing who they're from. Breakfast eaten about an hour later.

E- go for a nice pre dinner walk.

R- starts off ok, children then get tired need a wee as it's so cold.

E- eat dinner, pull crackers, be merry.
R- children not hungry, meats undercooked, my dinner gets cold, children cry as cannot pull cracker.

E- all sit, relax with family film.

R- can't agree on what to watch, children get bored. Adults fall asleep.

E - play a lovely family board game and have a jolly old giggle doing so

R - 6 yo gives up after a minute, raging bc he's not winning, toddler insists on having a turn independently and ruins the board. 3/4 of the family in tears before we're even half way through.
