What do your kids spend Robux on (if they have Roblox)?

The kids have never had Robux- they just play the free content. However they've been gifted Robux from a friend for Christmas.

Looking in the game, the stuff they can spend it on seems to rage wildly and the prices do too. One of the things they can buy is a frown expression for their characters face and it costs 4,000 Robux (essentially, 40 quid!!). Some stuff seems more sensible - a hat for the character for 50 Robux (50p).

So they don't go mad and blow it in one game on utter shite - what's the stuff your kids spend their Robux on? How do you manage it?

A three-headed hell dog in Adopt Me. Merry Christmas, I guess Hmm

GachaBread · 25/12/2020 14:07

Anything and everything. My daughter had £20 worth for a Christmas present and so far has brought some flying space boots. I hate the dam game and can't wait for her to grow out this roblux phase. Not long ago she brought something rare from an eBay sellar and has already traded it for more items.

Ah it's Xmas let the kids be kids and buy all this digital nonsense lol

Cant even keep up with the things Dd9 buys or get excited about, legendary and ultra rare pets. potions to make pets do things, fly or whatever.

Hailtomyteeth · 25/12/2020 14:19

Fabulous outfits.

AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet · 25/12/2020 14:23

Ride potion and fly potion, on adopt me

Just asked - gibberish incomprehensible answer about opening some crates in an all star tower defence game - translates as spunking it up a wall by the sounds of it. I am a bad parent.

Treeerex · 25/12/2020 14:34

This is why I don't let my kids have robux

omg35 · 25/12/2020 14:36

Pets in Adopt Me. I don't let her have bux often tho as it's such a waste of money

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 25/12/2020 14:40

We've never let them. A relative has gifted them and tbh I feel the need to diplomatically persuade her to avoid them in the future.

I asked my teenager who got a subscription with monthly robux for his birthday - he says he spends it on clothes and game passes. The game passes expand what he's able to do in games and the clothes are just fun. He makes custom ones now and is currently saving up for a bunny hoodie "because it's cute".

I don't manage it, once it's gone, it's gone, but he's 16. If it was my 8 year old, I'd probably help him plan it out - part of the fun at that age is often just exploring the possibilities and then prioritizing them together (much like I do with gift giving wish lists - they can put whatever on the list, but then we go through and they have to tell me what's at the top).

'Skins' (outfits), additions to games and private server, according to my 11 year old who gets £5 worth from time to time.

NoGuestsCIothingOptionaI · 25/12/2020 15:28

once it's gone, it's gone
Indeed. I don't see it as any more wasteful than most Xmas tat and at least it's not stuff - it's not plastic - it's not wasteful in that sense. My kids love them. It's the one thing I do not ever control or mix myself in with (used to be an awful helicopter mum) so they can either save or splurge. They do both.
DD bought snow owls apparently.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 25/12/2020 15:41

DS gets £5 pocket money every week and usually spends it on Robux. I let him buy what he wants with it, if he enjoys it then I don't see it as a waste of money.

Clothing

Stuff on admin(?!)
This is from my children.

kimlo · 25/12/2020 15:50

a private server and stuff.

FoxBaseBeta · 25/12/2020 15:51

Any old shite I imagine! I actually don't mind too much, from what I can work out he does think carefully about what he buys for his avatar and Adopt me pets. He ended up with mostly Robux for birthday presents so at least we're not adding to landfill.

MiddleClassMother · 25/12/2020 15:51

Mainly bloxburg and adopt me, they buy fancy cars, in game cash and pets. It was costing me a fortune so I signed them up to the "roblox premium 450" they get 450 robux a month and it's only £4.59 a month each so I don't mind and it keeps them in their limits.
