I like my sprouts soggy

I am making overboiled school dinner sprouts today as it’s just me and dc and I like them like that. Dc hates them anyway and will only have one on their plate. He

Anyone else like a soggy sprout or are you doing them fancy?

Plain and cooked to death. Heaven.

CaptainCallisto · 25/12/2020 13:18

I don't like the really soggy, but I hate them al dente - they've got to be soft all the way through! I do sports quite often through the autumn/winter so I always pimp them up a bit with bacon and chestnuts for Christmas dinner. Yum!

CaptainCallisto · 25/12/2020 13:18

Sprouts, not sports! Bloody autocorrect 🤦

Plain and soft, but not soggy or waterlogged.

Deathraystare · 25/12/2020 17:14

I must admit I like mine well done. I hate when they are just 'shown' a flame and end up raw and indigestible.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 25/12/2020 17:31

You should have eaten at my late, exMIL's ... every dinner had something greeny-grey and pureed, a beigy-grey soggy starch and a brownish-grey burnt piece of meat

The only way to identify the dinner was from the relishes; if mint sauce it must have been lamb, horseradish suggested beef and so on. Not that it really mattered because there was every chance of throwing it back up again anyway (she favoured keeping things on the cellar steps - sometimes for days - instead of the fridge)

I love them soft and boiled to death, I won't eat them any other way

dudsville · 25/12/2020 18:06

NNNEEEEEOOOOOOOOHHHHHH!

Roasted until they are creamy inside.

bubblebubblebubbletrouble · 25/12/2020 18:07

Me too! Frozen baby sprouts cooked til they are squishy.
I'm at my parents & they've bought fresh....

Aloethere · 25/12/2020 18:11

No soggy sprouts for me. I'm still slightly traumatised by the xmas at my mils where she cooked the sprouts so much they were hollow balls filled with water.

Fluffycloudland77 · 25/12/2020 18:13

Soggy.

Inextremis · 25/12/2020 18:25

Soft, at that exact point where they turn from bright green to a sort of greenish yellow, drained, drenched in melted butter and white pepper. Heaven.

SilverOtter · 25/12/2020 18:33

Yeuuuchh! What's wrong with you lot?! They have to be firm (but not hard). Soggy sprouts are revolting🤮

Wiglio · 25/12/2020 18:33

DM cooked them in the pressure cooker 😯
I simmered them for half a hour today, they were lovely

CrimsonCattery · 25/12/2020 18:57

Nah I love them crunchy, fried up with bacon and chestnuts. Had them at the ex-inlaws once that had been in a stew and they were waterlogged. I bit one and was Envy

Now that's talent - any fool can make them mushy, but to get them to that stage takes skill Grin

PaperMonster · 25/12/2020 21:03

Yes, I like a soggy sprout!

WankPuffins · 25/12/2020 21:18

I roast mine.

With cauliflower. Just a bit of oil. Bloody lovely.

We low carb not today so it's a bit of a staple. So much tastier than boiling.

nocoolnamesleft · 25/12/2020 21:41

Why would anyone put even a small amount of food their DC hates on their plate, on Xmas Day?!

Neverbeme · 25/12/2020 22:18

Dc says they hate sprouts but they will have one at Christmas which they did!
