What's the most romantic thing anyone has ever done for you or you have done for them?

Just been thinking about this this morning.

I have only ever had two romantic evenings.

One was with a friend of mine. We went to some local secluded woods for an evening picnic. I took blankets and fairy lights and we slept in the woods. I arranged it.

And last weekend I spent a really lovely romantic evening (which I wasn't quite expecting!) with my ex boyfriend which I kind of arranged but he made beautiful. He wasn't romantic with me when we were together.

Just made me a bit sad really that my only experiences of romance have been with a (male) friend and an ex boyfriend!

I just wanted to have my heart warmed really by hearing other people's experiences.

I once mentioned to an ex that I had never been to the Cotswolds and would love to; just in passing conversation ..... one afternoon from work he called me up; told me to book any hotel in the Cotswolds for the night and he was coming to get me - he had arranged childcare for my Dd; booked me the next day off work and we went and spent the night / day in the Cotswolds waking around and just being together

Was my best date ever

A now ex boyfriend picked through fish I had ordered and removed every bone (I wouldn’t have ordered it if I’d known it came with bones). It has yet to be trumped. Married (to someone else) 10 years.

DH taught ds (aged 2 at the time) to sing happy birthday to me when he bought my cake out.

I POAS at work, it was positive and I could not wait until I got home to tell dp, so I phoned him from work.

That evening he comes home from work and walks up to me with his hand behind his back. I thought he'd bought me flowers, but he presented me with a folded sheet of paper: dp had insured his life, with me as the benefactor.

Unromantically pragmatic, yet totally romantic.

I had an argument with my ex. We were both students at the time, in different cities. The next day, one of his tutors mentioned that he was planning to fly down to London (where I lived), in his own private plane, to give a lecture. Ex persuaded him to let him come along for the ride so he could turn up at my uni and apologise to me.

Lovely grand gesture, but the guy was still a penis, and we still split up shortly afterwards.

I've just remembered another.

About 25 years ago, I worked with a number of homeless drug addicts. Some of them became quite regular attendees and we'd chat about stuff. There was one who used to phone me at work just to tell me rubbish jokes.

He came in one day and we had a chat about Winnie the Pooh. He often disappeared for weeks, sometimes months, on end. And, on one of the occasions, he returned with a copy of The Tao of Pooh for me that he'd found in a second hand bookstore and had written a really lovely message inside.

Maybe thoughtful rather than romantic but it remains the single most thoughtful thing anyone has ever done for me.

It's the only time I've ever really had a sense that i was in someone's thoughts.

I was on mat leave, all friendless and lonely with dc1. It was our wedding anniversary and dh had to go to work but he left some thoughtful gifts for me and timed a particular song to come on at a time when I’d be having a coffee. It was such a small thing but so thoughtful and romantic.
I did cry Blush

For my 30th (b4 we were married) DH arranged a holiday for us to Cyprus. Sitting in a local restaurant my birthday cake arrived carried by my Mum followed by my 5 siblings and best friend. DH arranged everything. We all had a great night and massive hangovers.

Made me a mix tape with a specially selected song from every year of my life. The first song was Let's get it on, Marvin Gaye, released the year I was conceived 😅
I remember that so clearly, but I'm struggling to remember why I didn't marry him..... 🤨
