Anyone else's kids still awake?!

It's nearly 1am and my eldest (10) still isn't asleep as too excited for Santa and my youngest had been asleep for hours but now awake!
They keep their stockings by their beds and I'd already filled youngests and waiting for eldest to drop off to fill theirs. Help...
(They're normally good sleepers but the excitement is clearly too much.)

Yes, I'm knackered. For the love of God, go to sleep!

Niclc · 25/12/2020 01:06

I'm still up too. Youngest asleep. Eldest still awake

sesamebreadsticks · 25/12/2020 01:07

Mine too. 13 year old sparko but ten year old has been in bed since 10pm and has had a few tears as he's so frustrated he can't get to sleep. Says he even nipped out of bed to google on his phone "top tips for getting to sleep". Can't be cross though I'm desperate to get to bed myself and stocking still on his bed, plus he's still a believer..... zzzzzzz

Dd11 still awake. Both ds 6&13 flat out. I have Covid and really need to sleep. DH is waiting downstairs but I keep texting him to just come up and then she’ll settle. I’m worried he’s going to fall asleep so can’t drop off until stockings are sorted!

I'm in bed but ds is still up watching a movie, tbf he is 19, lol

DramaAlpaca · 25/12/2020 01:18

Mine are awake, but as they are in their 20s there's not much I can do about it Grin

I have fond memories of desperately waiting for them to go to sleep on Christmas eve. Hope you all get to bed soon.

Strokethefurrywall · 25/12/2020 01:21

I've just given my kids melatonin (it's 8pm here), and watching their eyes get heavy. They've had 3 nights of gone 10pm bedtimes and absolutely frazzled.

And I know full well tomorrow I'll be drumming my fingers at 8am waiting for them to wake up!!

waltzingparrot · 25/12/2020 01:21

Could you set your alarm?

EnglishRose1320 · 25/12/2020 01:22

Luckily both of mine are asleep but this is the longest it's ever taken, gone midnight before ds2 who's 10 went to sleep and even then he was tossing and turning loads so haven't dared put his stocking in his room yet.

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 25/12/2020 01:24

Mine! To be fair, she's 10 and I let her stay up and come to the midnight service with me.

NowellSingWe · 25/12/2020 01:26

I've just come to bed, but mine are still awake. They're 14 and 11, so they know all about the Magic of Christmas...but they're still too excited to sleep!

I've told them their stockings will be in my room in the morning, because it isn't Christmas until they've slept... Grin

Loving the solidarity here as well as a reminder that this will all pass in years to come. I'm sure we'll look back on it all fondly but for now I just want my bed!

My almost 1 year old is awake for the second time tonight. Have had to give her a bottle and hoping she'll go down before 2am as my 4 and 5 year olds will probably be up at 7am. I was also up til 2.30am with her last night and most nights this week she has woken. We are exhausted 😴 😪 😩
