I just saw a radiant bride sat in the back of a classic car

I’m in tier 4 from Boxing Day.

I cried when I saw her. Proper lump in my throat.

It really hit me what’s happening.
I’ve been really holding it together but my emotions leaked out.

Aw. I walked past a surprise doorstep visit yesterday and it was hard not to properly cry. A younger woman singing We Wish You A Merry Christmas while her older relative shouted her name in ecstatic disbelief. Any other year you'd have presumed she'd come from Australia, but this year probably from the other side of town.

I’ve seen stormtroopers marching around our town. They were even at the entrance to Sainsbury’s once

CurlyhairedAssassin · 24/12/2020 15:19

Well, these are all making me ashamed that I got a lump in my throat listening to "A spaceman came travelling" this morning while cleaning the bathroom.

I hope they have a lovely day. It’s heartening that people can still find joy in things.

My lovely friend got married yesterday, she looked so so beautiful. The wedding service and the meal afterwards was absolutely wonderful. Big flashy weddings may become a thing of the past after covid.

RachelGreep87 · 24/12/2020 15:26

A Brexit Bride.

She made her deal at the same time as the UK.

Now I’m filling up 😢

My son nipped in yesterday, Avec mask. I've been in lockdown since this all started (Leicester) and the last time I saw him was December last year. Proper cried when I saw him.

iguanadonna · 24/12/2020 15:56

Earlier I saw from the kitchen window that the people over the road had their children and grandchildren visiting in the garden. First time I've seen the swing in action all the time we've lived here. They were all smiling and I cried tears to see it.

This.

Mum I didn't know you were on MN.
isawthatt · 24/12/2020 16:11

We did doorstep visits with all the family today. There were other people doing it too and it really made me emotional. It’s so difficult not to cuddle everyone

Sgtmajormummy · 24/12/2020 16:24

I find wearing a mask for more than a couple of hours makes me prone to tears. The other day I saw a sign with a young woman in a high-vis vest saying “we (heart) your mask” for a public event that didn’t happen. Nearly set me off..

Or Italian TV has Christmas greetings from actors who play police officers, nurses etc all in uniform, mending a broken plate with gold. Then they sit down to Christmas dinner with an empty place (broken golden plate) at the head of the table.

Stifled Sob!

NoProblem123 · 24/12/2020 16:26

A lockdown wedding would definitely suit me. I hate being centre of attention with people looking (judging).
Hope she’s having a simply splendid day.

BrutusMcDogface · 24/12/2020 16:28

A reminder that life is still going on. My beautiful cousin got married and although I’m gutted I couldn’t go, I’m so very happy for them both. Bless them Flowers

caoraich · 24/12/2020 16:30

Oh you've brought tears to my eyes. My cousin got married today- just her and husband and 2 witnesses. I'm so glad she got to have her wedding but I'd have loved to be there.

Toddlerteaplease · 24/12/2020 16:39

@Bathroom12345 that's a fairly common occurrence in Nottingham. Honestly it is! Though I have learned that anything goes bd I barely bay an eye when o see someone dressed up
As a minion or my blobby anymore!

Neverbeme · 24/12/2020 16:39

I’m like that anyway with weddings.

I cried once when I saw a bride getting out of the wedding car in torrential rain. I didn’t even know her.

DumplingsAndStew · 24/12/2020 16:42

That's lovely. I hope she has a wonderful day.

I saw an out of service bus the other night, the message on the front had been changed to read Merry Christmas. It just made me smile.

twinkletoedelephant · 24/12/2020 16:47

Ddog wore his elf Christmas jumper on his wander round the lake today, dh also had a matching jumper. He got much attention and fuss from small children (his most favourite type of humans)
Both came back with big grins ready for a nap.

JumpJockey · 24/12/2020 16:59

Are you in Cambridge? Friends of mine got married today. They were due to wed in the summer, then had to postpone til just after Christmas, then the latest tier change announcement came and they were able to make yet another very last minute change so they could get married today. We watched on the church’s Youtube channel (!! Oh the times we live in) so no idea if she was in a classic car, but she was certainly radiant.
