Small Double Bed

DD needs a new bed & have been looking at small doubles rather than a single but have a really stupid question. Do you get small double bed bedding (I can't seem to find any anywhere) or do you just use double bed bedding?

Hi, we use a standard double duvet. You can buy small double fitted sheets from amazon or John Lewis but standard double fitted sheets seem to fit on our small double.

We use flat sheets and a standard double duvet.

You can get small double mattress protectors - I've bought them from Dunelm.

My daughter ses a single duvet, but shes only nine and finds bigger ones heavier. Normal double sheets. Massive pile of cushions and teddies (and books).

My son had a small double bed I just get double bedding for him .

Littleyell · 24/12/2020 11:59

I don’t think you can buy small double bedding. It’s just double bedding because it’s the duvet that will be going inside. Works fine.

CatkinToadflax · 24/12/2020 12:00

Both our boys have small doubles. We use small double fitted sheets and standard double duvets and two normal pillows each.

Small double fitted sheets from Dunelm. Double duvet.

You can buy small double fitted sheets and mattress toppers - I've got them from M&S and Dunelm.

DS has one this year fir his room. I ordered small double sheets, a double quilt and double quilt covers from Dunelm on click & collect.

We're really pleased with them and the click & collect system at Dunelm was efficient and seemed Covid safe Smile

Depends on the age of the child.
Aged 4 and 6 we moved into a house where the kids both had small bubbles. They had double fitted sheets and a single pillow and duvet. A double was too heavy for them *and too hot, butbthats not going to be an issue for misg of the time in England!).

quickkimchi · 24/12/2020 12:25

We got ours from Victoria Linen: www.victorialinen.co.uk

Littleyell · 24/12/2020 12:26

@BarryGlendenning thanks I’ll look next time.

Dunelm sells fitted sheets for small doubles.

Single duvet cover looks a bit small in on it so we use standard double which makes it a bit more luxurious.

And we have 4 pillows just like a double bed. They are a bit closer together but there is room.

QueenAnnaOfArrandale · 24/12/2020 13:03

Perfect thanks everyone.
She's actually only 3 but the price of that compared to a single isn't much difference and my thought was she would probably get longer in that & would be good for when she is bigger when her cousin stays here with her.

From the sounds of it for her age the best plan would be small double fitted sheet, single pillow & duvet.

Thanks for the recommendations Smile

I was given two fitted sheets for my small double. The standard double from John Lewis is perfect; the standard double from the White Company is far too big, so it does vary a bit
