What do they burn in hospital chimneys? Ive lived right by a hospital for nearly 10 years and it’s just occurred to me that I have no idea what they do with the huge chimney.
Surely they can’t burn medical waste and body parts? Confused

Does it smoke? How old is it? Most likely it isn't in use anymore.

They do, what did you think happened to them?

That's exactly what it's for.

Ive just double checked and a quick Google tells me that most waste is taken off site for incineration by private companies nowadays so the chimney may now be redundant.

I don't imagine they'll be in use.

Sharps bins get burnt, as does a lot of other medical waste.

Just had a look online. Disposal was handed to private contractors in the 1990s.
