Anyone else spending Christmas Evening alone?

I'll have my DD Christmas eve then Christmas morning which will be fab, but she'll be going to her dad's later in the day. Thanks to Covid restrictions, I am then alone - anyone else in the same boat and have any recommendations for films, books or whatever? I will of course have baileys Grin

My daughter will be here this year but i am usually alone. Just think - you can have everything YOU like to eat and drink, no waiting on anyone! Television or a good book got to bed when you like and get up when you feel like it. Being alone does have good things going for it.

Do you know you can change your support bubble as long as you leave 10 days clear in between? Might be worth having a different support bubble over Christmas if there’s family you could go to.

andalone · 23/12/2020 21:57

@HullBrian
Me too. Think I'm going to follow @Daydreamsinglorioustechnicolor s advice and find films and booze!

Hadn't noticed until this year that all the Xmas adverts have happy families in them. It's a whole new world....

If you have Netflix I can highly highly recommend Gilmore girls! It's really light and funny and doesn't require excessive concentration so doesn't matter if you're browsing the sales or if you've had a couple too many Bailey's 😉

Also, start a MN thread in the afternoon/evening, as I imagine they'll be lots of people alone and it would help people feel less isolated maybe? Like one big group chat ❤️

@Tatiannatomasina
Thinking of you. Shell shocked doesn't even cover it......Confused

Shitfuckoh · 23/12/2020 22:04

Ah. Well once I've got the DC settled in bed, I'll be alone. The plan is to have a drink or 10 of Baileys & watch something decent on TV. Reality is I'll probably fall asleep!

For those of you who have just recently seperated. I was in that position last year. The first one is always the hardest. Once you've got through the first lot of 'firsts' it really does get easier. This year, lockdown, home learning etc as been much easier than I thought it would be, because I only have myself & the DC to please.
Hopefully next year will be more like 'normal' so even better.

Mulhollandmagoo · 23/12/2020 22:04

@Tatiannatomasina sending you these Flowers can I suggest doing all the thing you know he would hate? A little festive passive aggression for one Xmas Wink

RB68 · 23/12/2020 22:10

A friend of mine has a small business and she is doing an online cookalong at 9.30 for pancakes and a fruit filling. I thought it was a brilliant idea - its aimed at those on their own but she is taking time out from her family to do this. Only thing I can say is I would love the time alone and hogging the remote - I rarely watch TV as two others are in the queue for the remote so I don't get a look in

sugarlost · 23/12/2020 22:22

@Tatiannatomasina sorry to hear about what you're experiencing. I hope things improve for you soon.

I'll be alone too. Will watch TV and have started Yoga which helps my mood..I hope I keep it up even if I just do the basics and am not that great it's something. I lack motivation but am starting anti depressants tomorrow which I really hope helps me.
Good idea about alone thread for Christmas day!

Tatiannatomasina · 23/12/2020 22:25

I will have a good cry to Last Christmas by Wham, then will spend the day watching tv and maybe have a swim in the pool. Its 40 degrees here and I do not like the heat. Ah well, we are covid free and life goes on, so hopefully I can count my blessings and heres to a better and brighter 2021 for us all.

Daydreamsinglorioustechnicolor · 23/12/2020 22:29

Good idea about alone thread for Christmas day!

I'm in!

IrisRainbow · 23/12/2020 22:38

Ooh I'm definitely up for the Christmas Day lonesomes thread! My DC will be at X's from Christmas Day onwards. Looking forward to seeing some of you then! Smile

andalone · 23/12/2020 23:22

@Tatiannatomasina I've been purposely avoiding that song despite being a Wham! fan.
If I'd realised last Christmas that it was going to be our last one as a whole family I might have done things differently......

Tatiannatomasina · 24/12/2020 08:20

@andalone if hind sight were foresight.... but we cant go back and change things so its how we move on from it. I now have an invite for breakfast and lunch with two different friends tomorrow - no covid here - so I am going to take them up on the offer. Im not massively social but keeping busy has really been a god send. I was supposed to be on leave but when he dropped the bomb on Sunday I rocked up to work Monday. I was a complete bawling mess, but it has helped me through and I have made it to Christmas eve. Hope you all have a good one and that next year is better for us all.

andalone · 24/12/2020 20:13

@Tatiannatomasina
Glad you've got some support all those miles away. Have a great time.

Daydreamsinglorioustechnicolor · 25/12/2020 21:58

Well I had the pleasure of the morning with the DC then for some reason agreed to xmas dinner with the STBXH with the kids at his place.
I mean it was OK and we get on alright but I was glad to have an excuse to leave (family quiz).
Watching Eastenders, eating cheese and drinking wine now!

andalone · 25/12/2020 22:00

All ok here. I have gin and a chocolate orange. What more could a girl need? Grin

Daydreamsinglorioustechnicolor · 25/12/2020 22:02

Any plans for tomorrow? I'm planning a day in my pyjamas!

soyabean · 25/12/2020 23:08

I’m watching a film, had a couple of glasses of fizz, now on the herbal tea!
