What have I forgotten?

Turkey is fresh so no defrosting needed.

I'm positive I've fucked up on something.

Have you got all your stuffing, bacon, butter etc for cooking you’re turkey? Foil? All veg and pigs in blankets? Fat for the roasties? Yorkshire puddings and flour etc for gravy? Dessert or a starter? Drinks for everyone and nibbles? Breakfast?

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 23/12/2020 17:52

Lemons. I always forget them.
I always feel like this btw. This year it's too late already as we aren't going to the shops.

minou123 · 23/12/2020 17:53

Presents?

Do you have any special christmas drinks?

I know the feeling yiur talking about and I hate it too. Because invariably I have forgotten something.

I've just realised I’ve forgotten J20s and some sort of Baileys. I’d quite like the Hotel Chocolat version but think I’ve left it too late. Could it be very important drinks you’ve forgotten?

MrsLeclerc · 23/12/2020 17:55

KEVIN!! 😱
Sorry couldn’t resist Grin

If you can’t remember/haven’t got it in then you can probably do without it. 2020 just gives us all that feeling I think!

I bought extra tin foil, even though I have 2 rolls, just in case it had evaporated overnight.

How about writing a plan, starting with what you want to happen over the holidays and work back from there. Do it in enough detail and you will spot anything that has been forgotten.

I really enjoy the process of imagining what I want to have happen, and start quite early with the high level stuff, eg main meal at x c'clock. Then fill in detail ever more detail of what needs to be done when, what dishes to use to cook and to serve.

Some people laugh but I really enjoy doing the plan. Just don't forget to get started, feeling too much as if everything is under control can lead to forgetting to actually do it.

The plan is also a convenient way to work out who will do which parts...

I've forgotten the Quality Street, which I remembered half an hour after the cut off for amending my Christmas shop...

Our postlady came along today and I realised that we haven't yet given her what my parents used to call a Christmas box. She's working Christmas Eve so still time, but that was six hours' ago and I still haven't found her a card or cash for it.
