Stella Tennant

I'm really sad to read the news that Stella Tennant has died.

I don't know her personally, but she was one of the 'supermodels' when I was a 20-something in the 90s. Her picture was everywhere.

She was only 50. I just feel terribly sad for her family (and for her).

Yes. Shocking and very sad.

BusterGonad · 23/12/2020 16:52

It's very sad. I loved all the super models back in the 90s.

cherrypie790 · 23/12/2020 16:55

Very sad that she has 4 children in their late teens/early 20s. What a horror for them all Sad

BusterGonad · 23/12/2020 16:59

Yes, her poor children. Just before Christmas too.

JinglePies · 23/12/2020 17:03

How did she die? I know it's awful to want to know.

nosswith · 23/12/2020 17:23

Whatever the cause, 50 is no age. RIP.

Fungster · 23/12/2020 17:26

A "sudden death at home" is often code for suicide. I have no idea if this happened here, of course. Tragic, regardless of cause. Those children Sad

JinglePies · 23/12/2020 18:09

So awful. I have lost people very close to me by suicide. It’s always tragic. So close to Christmas with children is beyond comprehension. Feel so sad for all of them.

WankPuffins · 23/12/2020 18:10

So very sad. I was a teenager in the 90s and thought she was fabulous and so stunning.

Paddy1234 · 23/12/2020 18:11

Awful - I loved her androgynous look. RIP

Quirrelsotherface · 23/12/2020 18:17

Terribly sad. Her poor, poor kids.

I hope this isn't what's happened, but it's often the case when the reports also say 'no suspicious circumstances' as they have in this sad context.

I remember her from the 90s too, she really had a unique look. It's so sad for her children and ex-husband. I lost my Dad close to Christmas and while is awful to lose a parent at anytime of year, Christmas is especially hard :(

TheSmallClangerWhistlesAgain · 23/12/2020 19:44

I loved her look and attitude. There were a lot of her clothes exhibited at Chatsworth a few years back and she had amazing style.

GreenClock · 23/12/2020 19:47

The 1990s supermodels were brill. Each one different from the others, unlike the conveyer belt of dead-eyed malnourished types that followed them.

The fabulous Stella was descended from one of the Mitford sisters I think.

So sad for her family.

TheSmallClangerWhistlesAgain · 23/12/2020 19:54

She was Debo Mitford's granddaughter. She inherited the Mitford gene for female height. Nancy, Unity and Diana were all 6 foot plus.

Trumplosttheelection · 23/12/2020 20:01

It's an awful tragedy. Her poor kids and the whole family too. We were at Chatsworth in September. The staff were saying the Trust that runs the estate had made up everybody's salary to 100% during lockdown but everybody felt anxious about the Christmas trade. In the event they lost nearly all of it except what goes through the shops. For the Cavendish family I'm sure this will feel a heavy responsibility and then to have a crushing family loss on top. Hard, hard times.

PurpleMustang · 23/12/2020 20:55

This is awful at only 50 with 4 children. Although I wouldn't assume suicide though. You can due suddenly with no suspicious circumstances. It'll mean a post mortem to determine it before anything can be said for certain

PurpleMustang · 23/12/2020 20:55

die not due

Yamayo · 23/12/2020 22:13

The Fail were quick to comment that she was newly separated.

I've found this news strangely upsetting. I guess I grew up watching her modelling back in the days when models were proper celebrities, and she happened to look a lot like a close friend of mine (even more in her 30s/40s).
Her poor children. What a horrible Christmas after such a shit year.

BusterGonad · 24/12/2020 07:35

Yamayo I'm strangely quite upset about it too. I think because I loved the supermodels.
