Hi,

I was referred for an early scan by the midwife due to having mild cramping.

Last Friday (5 days ago) I had a scan where they saw the gestational sac in the uterus (I would've been 6 + 3 weeks pregnant). They took my HCG levels which were 1557.

2 days later I had another blood test to test my HCG results. They rose to 1661 - so just 6% increase We were told that this was a non-viable pregnancy.

Since then, I've had more blood tests which all rose but not by 60%

Blood results HCG levels :
1st 1557
2nd 1661
3rd 2176
4th 2630

Rose by 6% between 1st and 2nd time
Rose by 31% between 2nd and 3rd time
Rose by 20% between 3rd and 4th time

I had a second scan where they saw the gestational sac in the uterus but no embryo or yolk sac (7 + 2 weeks). The consultant had said that they cannot rule out an ectopic pregnancy but they are almost certain that it isn't. I've been told it's a possible non viable pregnancy but they aren't 100% sure because they can't see the embryo.

Can anyone tell me why my HCG levels are rising? Is this normal? I have started spotting (brown) 5 days ago. Could it be ectopic even though the consultant said they're pretty sure it isn't? I'm driving myself mad with worry.

Another scan booked for next Tuesday.
