MorvaanReed · 22/12/2020 18:14

Spare goose Grin

chomalungma · 22/12/2020 18:15

Why is the 'ooh aaah ' chicken so called?

OP posts:
Goawayquickly · 22/12/2020 18:22

The ooh-aah bird 😄

chomalungma · 22/12/2020 18:24

There would be some classic AIBUs from this.

Oh brilliant - this is the kind of prog I usually wrap presents to, but I'm a bit more organised this year Grin

HerBigChance · 22/12/2020 18:32

@Goawayquickly

The ooh-aah bird 😄
I love that!

The way Margot needs it explaining to her Grin

SnugglySnerd · 22/12/2020 18:35

One of my favourites, I am going to watch on iplayer later whilst present-wrapping.

I suppose if it were made today Jerry could have political covid instead of chicken pox Xmas Grin

TheSilentStars · 22/12/2020 18:37

Love this episode. Watch it every year along with the Likely Lads where Bob and Thelma are dressed as elves and Terry ends up in bed with Thelma.

chomalungma · 22/12/2020 18:41

AIBU to expect my 9ft Christmas tree to be 9ft?
AIBU to expect the delivery driver to deliver my food on Christmas day?

I watched a Lovejoy Christmas special a fortnight ago while writing Christmas cards. It was dreadful but brilliant in a comforting way.

Becca19962014 · 22/12/2020 18:43

I've got it on DVD. One of my must watch on Christmas Eve!!

Justa47 · 22/12/2020 18:47

@chomalungma
Best episode when Margo goes out to amateur operatic and Gerry eats curry in the lounge! Haha

Pebble21uk · 22/12/2020 18:50

Bloody love this episode. We have had to shield so not been in a shop since March. We got an online delivery yesterday for all our Christmas food etc. I kept saying to my partner... 'Christmas is coming in a van'

rc22 · 22/12/2020 18:55

@chomalungma when he wafts the smell of it around with his hand before he eats it!!

chomalungma · 22/12/2020 18:56

Jerry is great.

I'd love to see how Tom, Barbara, Margot and Jerry would have dealt with covid!! I can just picture them all gathering on Zoom Smile

picklemewalnuts · 22/12/2020 19:11

I'm really enjoying the making of the good life. Must try and watch it on catch up.

Becca19962014 · 22/12/2020 20:26

I was surprised to see the box set in the charts on Amazon. A friend sent me a text to say she just treated herself to it in Tescos for £15 on Saturday (it's in their top 20) and was overjoyed. We both remember it being on tv and the campaign get it on DVD the first time and rereleased in 2011 - prior to that it was extremely hard to get - copies went for hundreds of pounds on Amazon second hand and libraries found found they were stolen.

It's so nice that it's endured.

Becca19962014 · 22/12/2020 20:26

Frequently found!!

Becca19962014 · 22/12/2020 20:28

I have a copy of the celebratory book they did, I think in 2005 and the one that accompanied the "reality" tv show with Sue Perkins in 2010 (I think). It's one of my favourite tv shows (along with quantum leap) which I love to rewatch.

SingToTheSky · 22/12/2020 20:32

Haven’t watched this in years! Thanks for posting, I must have a look.

nosswith · 22/12/2020 20:33

RIP Paul Eddington, Richard Briers.

Grellbunt · 22/12/2020 20:42

Oh this is one of my faves. Having a bit of a crap time at the mo and couldn’t find anything suitable to watch so this will be ace!

Becca19962014 · 22/12/2020 23:43

grellbrunt maybe that's why the series is so popular at the moment! Enjoy!!
