Severe sciatica

Hi

Please can anyone offer any advice? Am desperate.

I have severe sciatica. I am 27 weeks pregnant with my second pregnancy. I also have spinal contusions left over from my first pregnancy when three epidurals went wrong.

I am in so much pain. I have just sent my 1 yr old to nursery and am now on the sofa in foetal position with hot water bottle. Am taking paracetamol and codeine regularly. Nothing is working. I am in tears with the pain at least once a day.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Chiropractic and massage helped me in pregnancy.

Can you take naproxen while pregnant? I found this in combination with the codeine helped me as it helps reduce inflammation which is what often caused sciatica when an inflammed joint is pressing on a nerve. Also you could try an icepack rather than a heatpack, again it's good to reduce inflammation. If the doctor will prescribe naproxen take it regularly to get the full effect of reduced inflammation and try to get a stomach protection med like omeprazole as naproxen is hard on your stomach.
