Nobody's going to make me eat my brussels sprouts so...

What games can I play with them?

I bought brussels sprouts out of Christmas habit as they were 14p, but neither I nor my sole Christmas guest are particular fans and we just plan to get wasted and play games/ watch films now that our plans to see family have been completely disrupted.

So I'm trying to think of games to play with them or alternative uses for them.

So far I have thought of brussels sprouts beer pong (we will have to use mugs instead of plastic cups as otherwise the beer will go everywhere)

What other games / alternative uses can people think of? I think I probably have about 50 to work with.

carpet boules or marbles before you cook them

30not13 · 22/12/2020 14:18

Hide n seek

suggestionsplease1 · 22/12/2020 14:18

Carpet boules, that's a good one...we could play closest roll to the Christmas ornament.

any of your neighbours have bunnies or guinny pigs?

do you have a neighbourhood accociation? ours (not uk) are doing a christmas meal for a homeless shelter that could use some.

Use as counters in solitaire.

For something different in the cooking line, chop or shred raw sprouts roughly, then stir fry with black bean or hoi-sin sauce, serve with noodles and shredded left over turkey.

TerrifiedandWorried · 22/12/2020 14:29

Put them in your mouth and see how far you can spit them. Rugby club game.

FippertyGibbett · 22/12/2020 14:30

Send them to me, I love sprouts !

suggestionsplease1 · 22/12/2020 14:32

I've actually got quite a large marble solitaire set so that idea could be a goer Grin. And how appropriate, given my present solitary circumstances.

Sprout kerplunk or sprout pin bowling?

suggestionsplease1 · 22/12/2020 14:35

O I have jelly babies we could use for pins in sprout pin bowling!

Make some chocolate truffles. Coat the truffles in chocolate. Also coat the sprouts in chocolate and play sprout roulette - even better is cool and finely chop into choc truffles
We bought a version of this game a couple of Xmas’s ago and it was hilarious

suggestionsplease1 · 22/12/2020 14:45

These are all great ideas! Chocolate brussels truffles o wow! I'll see if I have time to try something out.

They are rather nice if you shred and stif-fry them.

Otherwise, head down to the park with some bats or raquets and see how far you can whack them. If all else fails, use a frying pan.

nosswith · 22/12/2020 14:54

If you have not cooked them, can they be donated to a food bank? Via a local supermarket perhaps?

I view wasting food as evil.

Sprout billiards.

suggestionsplease1 · 22/12/2020 15:08

They won't be wasted, they will be making a very valuable contribution to festive entertainment, I promise!

I can cook them up afterwards and give them sparingly over a few meals to the dog! Or do ducks / birds eat them? Could chop them up and put them out.

Sprout billiards lol!

My dog loves sprouts, unfortunately her farts are rank afterwards. I love sprouts, I'll be roasting mine with chestnuts and pancetta
