What happens after you've had the vaccination?

My mum is mid-80s and lucky to have had her first vaccination last week, booster jab in early January. What happens then? Does she have to stick to the social isolation rules? Or can she see people outside her current bubble?

I think you're not immune until a while after the second injection. Best to ask for advice when going back for second injection.

It takes 28 days from the first injection to take full effect, assuming you get the booster jab after 21 days. So tell her to hang on in there for a little while yet.

You are meant to carry on the same in terms of social distancing, as whilst you shouldn't get ill, we don't know for sure if the vaccination will stop you transmitting the virus to others. In practise, I imagine people will get fed up of that pretty soon.

Surely though once you’ve had both jabs and waited the recommended amount of time then you should be able to carry on life as normal? If not then what’s the point of the vaccinations? Confused

Poptart I think it's because the other people won't necessarily have had the vaccination if they are younger. That may take a good few months. My grandparents have had their first dose. In a month's time we should no longer be a risk to them and as they can't leave the house, they are of very little risk to us. However I assume we will all still be in tier 4 and not allowed to meet, which is pretty annoying!
