I saw some today in aldi but didn't end up buying it.

What do you do with it?

Is it supposed to be healthy?

It looked very calorific

I assume the same as peanut butter

JumpLeadsForTwo · 21/12/2020 22:34

Almond butter is lovely! The Aldi one is just almonds, no additives. Use it where you would use peanut butter. Yes its calorific but healthy source of protein, and you don't need much. Add a small spoon to porridge, or yoghurt, or on a plate to dip apple pieces into.

JumpLeadsForTwo · 21/12/2020 22:36

Or drizzled on stewed apples - can you tell I'm a fan!! For me it makes a bowl of porridge keep me full all morning. Without a spoon of it I seem to feel hungry much earlier.

Thank you I will try it!

It’s lower in carbs than peanut butter, which may be why it’s become more popular. I don’t like it as much - the ones I’ve tried are a bit oily and runny, with a slightly bitter taste.

partyatthepalace · 21/12/2020 22:42

Similar to peanut butter.

Yes healthy but calorific.

Personally prefer sugar free peanut butter, or Cashew but butter also good for a drizzle.

Hazelnut butter is the food of the gods I think, and tend not to have it in the house, BECAUSE I COULD EAT A WHOLE JAR.

nancybotwinbloom · 21/12/2020 22:56

Hazelnut butter sounds nice!

It’s sugar free- only has almonds in and better for you that lemur butter because almonds are better for your digestive system.
Paleo eating doesn’t allow peanuts so it’s very popular with those who follow that diet!

xmasfairybuns · 21/12/2020 23:03

The ALDI one is surprisingly good quality and very reasonable in price , use the same as peanut butter

june2007 · 22/12/2020 00:12

I pour off the oil to stop it being so greasy - in the bin, not down the sink!
