Short notice ways to make period end faster?

This should be in health but posting here for traffic

My period is going to start tomorrow. My periods arent generally stressful but I get one portion which is heavy, super painful and brings on a bout of ibs. just for a few hours but I've realised this month i can expect that on christmas day. I'm doing the cooking and tbh I cant be bothered with it when my family are around.

Anyway, any tips on speeding up a period? I exercise, I'll run 3 miles tomorrow and on thursday and I'll have a walk on wednesday.

I've got raspberry leaf capsules in the house, can they so anything short notice? Or with those should I be taking them from mid month for any effect? They're left over from the end of my pregnancy last year.

Tmi but DH and I will have sex later, the only time we ever have planned sex is when I know my period is coming the next day

Any other suggestions?

You can get norohisterone over the counter at a pharmacy.

iamjackslaceratednipples · 21/12/2020 19:30

My periods shortened by a day or two when I started using a Mooncup. I assume it's the gentle suction.

Peanutbutterblood · 21/12/2020 19:39

Thanks both

I'm too late to take norohisterone. Will have a look and see if my local boots or superdrug has moon cups. Been considering trying one for a while

Clary sage essential oil 3/4 drops in a warm bath.

InTheLongGrass · 21/12/2020 19:48

If you have Amazon prime, a number of cups are promising delivery by end of tomorrow.

Tiletiletile1 · 21/12/2020 19:56

I was also going to suggest a mooncup, it makes mine shorter too and I don’t know why! Sucking it all out?!

delilahbucket · 21/12/2020 20:16

Ibuprofen taken regularly or if you can get it on prescription, naproxen. Won't necessarily shorten, but will lighten.

WhatAreWordsWorth · 21/12/2020 20:19

I came on to say a menstrual cup too. Mine shortens my periods from 5 days to 4, roughly.

Justbecause88 · 21/12/2020 20:25

If you take a big dose of ibuprofen it will stop/reduce the bleeding. I did it a few years ago, I think you might need to do it from when your period starts though. Have a look on Google, but It def worked for me.

Ultimateblends · 21/12/2020 20:27

My periods have been shorter for ages! I had no idea mooncup could be the cause! Thanks Mn (and im no help op, just amazed by the fact!)

LividLover · 21/12/2020 20:34

Multiple orgasms. Not joking. The type you need a buzzing friend for. Like 10+.

The contractions of your womb expel all the stuff. Might take a couple of hours.

im5050 · 21/12/2020 20:58

I take northisten the day I get my period
It’s stops it pretty much straight away

This. I also think it’s because big clots don’t need to break down, they just come out whole.

I don’t know Grin just speculating as with a mooncup I see about two days of big clots and not so much blood. Tampons/pads lasts longer and hardly any clots.

Possibly as pp said the slight suction of a mooncup means they come out whole rather than sitting in the uterus breaking down more slowly..?

Agree with the above. I’ve been using a mooncup since the summer although not every period but when I use it it speeds it up big time. A good 1.5 days less I’d say.

Not sure I’ve read this right.. 10+ orgasms in a couple of hours? Shock Even with an industrial buzzing device I don’t think I could physically have 10 orgasms in such a short space of time!

Thanks all! Unfortunately ibuprofen doesn't agree with me but I'm going to try boots tomorrow and see if I can get a moon cup. Glad you've mentioned the clots and im sorry this is way too much tmi but the heavy bit I was talking about, well my period goes like 2 days of what I'd call normal period, a day of super light/ next to nothing then major pain and then big clots. This lasts for an hour or so then that's it period done. I feel like a little suction might help that process

Very interesting about mooncup shortening your period. I think there might be something in that. I started using one after I had my teen and had a copper coil fitted resulting in long heavy periods and huge clots. I thought it had naturally died down but it ties in with the cup theory. Super heavy for 2 days then light for 4 or 5 days. Before it was more stretched out

Mind blown

Jimbellselmbath · 22/12/2020 00:22

I also have ibs/ibuprofen intolerance. The little blue books of panadol are fab painkillers
