Working out ring size - help!

I can't figure this out .I measure my finger by wrapping a piece of masking tape around it .Mark where the 2 ends meet ,remove ,lie it flat on a ruler and I get 75mm.With a piece of thread it's slightly larger .

But none of the ring charts I look at go up to 75 mm .

What am I doing wrong ??

Keep it in a circle and measure across the middle to get the diameter

Or maybe I'm wrong. Ignore me

Right ,so it's the diameter I need .Not the circumference .

mutter mutter mutter ,why don't the guides specify that

Some ring guides do use circumference i think. That's why I might be wrong

Try using thread instead of tape then check against a conversion chart
