Can someone living alone in tier 2 stay over at their family’s who are in tier 4 on dec 27-dec30th?
If they’re not seeing anyone else?

I think if I wasn’t living alone, that likely would not be possible but as I do live alone, I know there’s a clause for support bubbles but it is not clear to me with the new rules.

If you could provide a link evidence for your answer, that would be great. Thank you

Are you already in a support bubble with your family in tier 2? Yes or No.

Here is the tier 4 advice - www.gov.uk/guidance/tier-4-stay-at-home

Your specific question can only be answered if you answer Yes or No to my question.

What does already in a support bubble mean @RedMarauder ? I am not in any other support bubble. And they don’t see anyone else outside their household either

What country are you in?

RedMarauder · 20/12/2020 21:20

In England if you are an adult who lives completely alone, OR a single adult who ONLY lives with child/children under 18 then you can join with ONE household of any size. You are then in a support bubble and counted as one household.

Truly2435 · 20/12/2020 21:22

I’m in England

@RedMarauder thanks. I heard the same as what you’ve written but wondered if this rule varied if it meant the person living alone is tier 2 and the family they wanna join with is tier 4

You come across very aggressive.

OP you are one household regardless of the tier.

The problem is that everyone has to live to the highest tier. So if you are in tier 4 and stay with them in tier 2 means they can't go to restaurants, cafes, pubs etc.

Also you have to judge yourself whether any of them are at risk from you unknowingly spreading the virus.

YesMeLady · 20/12/2020 21:35

Would you be allowed to travel back from a tier 4 area to tier 2

dontcrowdthemushrooms · 20/12/2020 21:39

Yes, OP, I believe they can.

There is no legislation that your support bubble must be local - the ADVICE is to stay local and to "think carefully" about forming one further away, but it is allowed.

I am in a similar situation - currently in Tier 2 (South West) with parents living in Wales (Tier 4). I live alone so they are my support bubble and I will be going there later this week for Christmas. They're not my "Christmas bubble" (as Tier 2's cannot form a Christmas bubble with Tier 4), they are my every day support bubble and have been so since the summer. I will drive straight there with no stops, remain there for a week without leaving the property, and drive back again - for work, so covered under "reasonable excuse".

Essentially, support bubbles are exempt from the rules in all tiers. The Gov.uk website (and the Wales Gov website) are pretty clear on all the rules.

As above. The PM stated clearly yesterday that support bubbles can continue in all tiers & across tiers - although as previously mentioned if tier 4 goes to tier 2 or another lower tier, the whole household must act as if tier 4.

Yes you can travel between them.

However if you go by train expect the British Transport Police to stop and talk to you. If you are open and clear about your reasons for travel e.g. you are going to see your support bubble as you live completely on your own they shouldn't be interested in you.

Thanks a lot everyone @dontcrowdthemushrooms especially

Please don't even if allowed. Take advantage in a socially distant way of the rules in tier 2.
