Covid Confusion

Victoriasponge2 · 19/12/2020 18:50

Me and DC went to visit a friend who is a single mum and just gave birth so needed some support. My DH who stayed at home has tested positive for covid. Will me and DC have to stay at my friends for 10 days now until DH is better. I'm so confused with the covid rules. I don't want DC to get covid. I will really miss DH if we do have to stay away from him for longer. Anyone know the rules

I've been staying with my friend for about a week and a half because she's got nobody else to support her.

When did you last see DH?

Victoriasponge2 · 19/12/2020 18:54

@purrpaws I last saw my husband 9 days ago.

When did he get symptoms? We’re you at home with him in the 48 hrs before that? This is when people become contagious with Covid.
I think you probably need to be at home as it is recommended that we aren’t travelling or staying away. Of course I guess a lot also depends on your tier, the rules are very different between places.

Oh, saw the update. No chance you have already got it from DH I think.

@Victoriasponge2 our work say that you are most contagious 2 days before a positive test but allow up to a week.
I however would be travelling home not only to support but also because of Boris' announcement

If you’ve been there for 9 days already then I’d stay put if it’s ok with your friend. I certainly wouldn’t be heading home. In theory you’re in isolation until tomorrow.
