It's the last Saturday before Christmas! <eek> What are you all doing today?

I'm sitting at the kitchen table, in silence, with my cuppa. I'll get some washing on shortly & tidy round.

Both girls are still sleeping and their dad's at work.

We're going to bake, and hopefully build, our gingerbread house later on. I want to bake the other half of dd2's birthday cake to freeze, and we might wrap a few presents.

Other than that, we have absolutely no plans for the day! I bought an extra bottle of milk on the way home from school last night so we don't even need to nip to the shop

Might even treat us to takeaway for tea.

What about you? Xmas Smile

I'm currently on the sofa still in my pjs Blush
DD's 4 and 6 are here too watching tv and eating watermelon.
Dd and ds 18 are at work. Dd16 is still in bed.
I'm going to get a shower soon and sort the washing out. Need to sort my dinning room out because it's an actual dumping ground for crap! Can't even see the table Sad

Got a gingerbread house to build and decorate today and wrap some more presents. Family have been dropping of sacks of presents all week and they are sitting on the dinning room floor. I've got to find some space under the tree for them. I need to make some time for housework too because a busy week at work left me just doing the basics Confused

TeenPlusTwenties · 19/12/2020 11:21

Tidying downstairs.
Encouraging DD to do half a GCSE paper.
One final card to deliver if it stops raining.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 19/12/2020 11:36

Best - Have DM'd you. Grin

I've been for a walk and got rained on, on the way home. Going to wrap some presents now.

EileenGC · 19/12/2020 12:23

Definitely not too late for cards! I only did mine yesterday 🙈 I actually really like it when some cards arrive after Christmas, it prolongs the holidays!

We went for a walk this morning, then I had a church zoom event. Tonight we're doing film night and ordering pizza. I need to pack this afternoon as I have a flight tomorrow. I should get started soon so I have time to go to the shops and get all the stuff I forgot to buy this week, but needs taking with me Xmas Grin

QueenPaws · 19/12/2020 12:26

Working! 3 more days of work (finish on 23rd)

DialsMavis · 19/12/2020 12:35

Been for a run with a friend, done some weights, going to get the house into a semi decent shape before DH and I attack it properly early next week when he is home. Then out to buy an 18th birthday breakfast and drinks etc for DS in the morning. DS is cooking DD and I dinner Shock and the DH should be home from for Christmas by around bedtime Xmas Smile

Jocasta2018 · 19/12/2020 12:36

Just finished wrapping pressies, having lunch & this afternoon I'm planning on decorating the tree....
I'm in Tier 3 so no Saturday nite out for me but my local supermarket is open til 2200 so I'm gonna 'Go Wild in Waitrose'!

MsSquiz · 19/12/2020 12:40

DD (1 yesterday) slept all night til 7am so I had a lovely long shower and had time to dry my hair while DH took her downstairs once she woke up.

She then had an hour long nap until 10:30, and we've all been out for a lovely walk along the Quayside in the city centre and picked up a box of amazing donuts!

We are now en route gone for lunch and DH will be going to visit his DM (terminally ill) this afternoon while DD and I do a virtual toddler class and maybe go for another walk to look at local Christmas lights.

It will then be a waitrose pie in the oven with homemade chips, beans and gravy for tea. I'll wrap the last 2 gifts for next week and be in bed before 10pm!

Ridiculously rock and roll!

listsandbudgets · 19/12/2020 12:43

Making meringues, chikdren decorating the house and listening to Christmas songs
Later I will look for the sellotape and start the wrapping ( then panic because I've STILL got nothing for DP or DSS who are neigh on impossible to buy for)

Pasta for dinner and mulled apple juice and Christmas film later on

LBOCS2 · 19/12/2020 12:45

Just got back from swimming lessons followed by drive thru McD's for the DC. DH has walked in from football and is in the shower.

He's muttering about a 'big tidy up before Christmas' today but as I've worked my nuts off for the last two days sorting out the house (the 'big sort' rather than a standard clean) AND I've done the swimming lesson run, I'm feeling fairly resistant to doing any more and quite want to do some cross stitch while the light isn't too bad in here. So I may do that. He can tidy and clean if he likes 😁

Donkeysleighbellsringing · 19/12/2020 12:46

Kumquatsquash what a fabulous balloon, happy birthday to your little boy.

Bumblebee1980a · 19/12/2020 12:50

Currently at a children's Christmas event. He's seen Santa, made a Christmas bear and he's now playing in fake snow with daddy. I'm sitting down typing this whilst having a latte.

I'm also wondering what I'm getting dp for Christmas. Not an easy one. I might have to go to John Lewis later. Will be the first time I've been in a shop for ages if I do (I got so use to online shopping).

Have a lovely Saturday everyone Smile

U2HasTheEdge · 19/12/2020 13:30

Nothing much.. crocheting and MNing. I about to have a nap.

DH is walking the dogs then finishing the last bits for our daughter's birthday tomorrow.

Will do some wrapping tonight whilst drinking snowballs.

I still need to go buy some more presents but dont get paid until Xmas eve. Haven't wrapped a thing yet and need to think about the Xmas shop.

I'm still working next week so not quite in the spirit yet.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 19/12/2020 13:37

Just wrapped do's presents. They are so boring, but the idea of trying to go to a shop to rectify this fills me with horror.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 19/12/2020 13:37

dp's

Camomila · 19/12/2020 14:07

DH has taken the DSs out and I've done house work and rearranged the Christmas tree (put it on a small cabinet and tied it down with elastic) to make sure DS2 can't knock it over.

After we will bake dinosaur cookies - I also bought a Christmas kit but DS1 is mych more excited about the dinosaur ones (obviously) Grin

FurForksSake · 19/12/2020 14:09

In bed with covid watching masterchef.

doctorhamster · 19/12/2020 14:11

I have so far spent about 5 hours procrastinating because I can't be bothered to wrap presents. I hate wrapping. DD has just put Home Alone on so that'll be another couple of hours of procrastinating.

steppemum · 19/12/2020 14:12

@ByersRd

I work for an LA supporting schools.

I'm sitting here, laptop on ready to respond to COVID reports of positive cases in schools.

House is untidy,no decorations up, some presents, ordered online are sitting in the hall unopened. Christmas food shop not done. I haven't had the time to even think about it.
This has been the hardest year ever in education. Working hours have been incredulous, no holidays, no bank holidays, working weekends.

I'm at the point of tears.

Flowers I think the announcement about start of next term was the last straw for many teaching/school staff.

Thank you for all you have done

Pipandmum · 19/12/2020 14:13

Took son to work early and went to M&S in search of their collections Christmas cake - good Housekeeping ranked it the number two behind Waitrose and they are sold out. Nabbed last normal sized one on shelf. Shop was already really busy. Back home did some tidying and now waiting for Tesco delivery before dog walk.and back to collect son from work. He could take the bus but taking it both ways is equivalent to an hours wage so I drive when I can and combine it with another chore.

DinosApple · 19/12/2020 14:17

Unpacking the vast amount of stuff we moved in with. Clearing old house, cleaning it.
Writing cards to our new neighbours. Delivering cards to our old neighbours.
Popping to tool station for a washing machine extension hose so I can wash some of the six bags of laundry we’ve accumulated 🤦🏽‍♀️.

Tonight though, Strictly, gin and paper chains!

I hate wrapping, but had to because of moving. My usual way is to bribe myself with a box of chocolates, movie and a heavy weight sellotape dispenser!
Plussizejumpsuit · 19/12/2020 14:25

We've done a big clean including cleaning out the fridge and freezer. I'm going to clean the car in a bit as we're going to a drive in cinema tomorrow and it's at the Christmas tree and a tip run in the back!

Then vegging on the sofa! I manically did my wrapping last week as I thought I'd be working more next week but then unexpectedly got given extra time off as the year has been awful! So I'm fairly good on the Christmas prep. But feeling frazzled from it!

thismeansnothing · 19/12/2020 14:36

I've been for a run while DH took DD to her dance class.

I've made tonight's tea and took younger DD to Toddler Sense Xmas party.

Caught up on last week's strictly.

About to ice my Xmas cakes ready to give out.

Then it's chill and a snooze before tonight's night shift. It will be MANIC

CeeceeBloomingdale · 19/12/2020 14:38

A big food shop followed by a huge pile of ironing. Then watching the strictly final tonight.
