It's the last Saturday before Christmas! <eek> What are you all doing today?

I'm sitting at the kitchen table, in silence, with my cuppa. I'll get some washing on shortly & tidy round.

Both girls are still sleeping and their dad's at work.

We're going to bake, and hopefully build, our gingerbread house later on. I want to bake the other half of dd2's birthday cake to freeze, and we might wrap a few presents.

Other than that, we have absolutely no plans for the day! I bought an extra bottle of milk on the way home from school last night so we don't even need to nip to the shop

Might even treat us to takeaway for tea.

What about you? Xmas Smile

Grin @itchyfinger dd1 is almost 14, and dd2 is almost 11. They're deliberately allowed to stay up on a Friday night too, so long as they're reasonably quiet, so I get a peaceful start to Saturday morning!

It sounds as though dd2 is up though so my peace may soon be shattered!

Moving house.

We were sale agreed in July, and only completed this week!

bumblingbovine49 · 19/12/2020 09:50

Online appointment with a financial advisor , then this afternoon ( oh joy!)

Then I have an emergency appointment with a dentist to look at a tooth that has been hurting all week. Although it took a a few days to get an appointment and the pain is actually less bad now than when I called so wondering if I should have bothered Hmm . It is a pretty expensive appointment as well but I was worried about being stuck in agony over Christmas

PamDenick · 19/12/2020 09:50

Putting the tree up.

trappedsincesundaymorn · 19/12/2020 09:52

I'm going to see my younger sister to say goodbye as she flies back to Australia this evening after a 10 week stay.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 19/12/2020 09:54

We are off to visit Santa at a local farm, all outdoors. Glad it's dry today!

YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 19/12/2020 09:55

Working till 8pm. Straight through now till Christmas Eve. Be nice to any people you deal with in customer services / retail!

HoxtonBonnet · 19/12/2020 09:57

Feeling a bit hungover. It was ds' birthday yesterday and we celebrated with a fire pit and pizza. DH and I got a bit keen with the prosecco and now I am regretting it!

I need to wrap presents, clean the house and tackle my huge to do list.

mommybear1 · 19/12/2020 10:04

I had great plans to deep clean house, finish all wrapping and drop offs of gifts finishing off with a lovely takeaway and drinks for the Strictly final - however I managed to fracture one of my back teeth with an already existing root canal last night sooooo trip to emergency dentist at 11pm and tooth extraction. Currently sat on the settee longing for a hot cup of tea and pain relief - no nice takeaway or drinks for me 🥳.

InsufferableLKIA · 19/12/2020 10:31

DH and I made a “things still to do before Christmas” list last night which was satisfyingly not too horrendous. So we will be working through that, with the hindrance of the DC.

Also I need to buy a few fancy cocktail ingredients so I have something to cheer me up in case Christmas gets cancelled.

Strictly later.

Crossing everything that our careful plans to see family don’t get scuppered.... Sad

Get well soon @mommybear1 Flowers tooth pain is awful!!

Rainbowsoup · 19/12/2020 10:32

Need to tidy the house. Then going to see Santa with a meal, coffee with a friend then back home for Christmas movie and games

peaceanddove · 19/12/2020 10:37

Need to do some laundry and quick tidy around. Our cleaner won't come again now until the New Year, so DD is cleaning the bathrooms (and to be fair, she's more thorough than the cleaner).

Then will start present wrapping - I've bought really fancy paper, ribbons and a new sellotape dispenser in order to make it a bit more bearable.

Think tonight will just be a full on, chilling out on the sofas and doing my Xmas jigsaw.

BestIsWest · 19/12/2020 10:39

Ooh Remus what are you getting this time?

Having coffee now then going to brave the supermarket. Visiting my mother later then pizza and a Christmas film later.

The last two weeks have been full on with work and other commitments and I am exhausted. DH is usually excellent at this time of the year and does lots of the shopping, wrapping, household stuff etc but he has badly hurt his back so I’ve had to do everything.

badlydrawnbear · 19/12/2020 10:40

Posting cards at the post office and the houses of DD's friends who didn't go back to school this term, tidying up as my in-laws invited themselves round tomorrow despite the fact that this is illegal and risky to them (I go out to work and mix with a lot of people there and DC were in school until yesterday), hoping DC go to bed at something like a sensible time so I can start wrapping presents rather than having to stay up until about 2am on Christmas Eve after working a night shift the night before.

Bluewavescrashing · 19/12/2020 10:41

I just woke up, after a lovely long sleep. I'm a teacher and absolutely shattered after a long term.

DH is cooking breakfast, DCs are making Christmas boxes together, actually playing really nicely. I'll shower soon then do a bit if pottering, laundry etc. Short walk after lunch then play with DCs, films and some 🥂

Bonkerz · 19/12/2020 10:44

It's dd 15th birthday today. She's currently playing just dance after eating chocolate for breakfast. DS is in garden breaking old chairs to put in a big tip bag we've paid for to out Christmas rubbish in.
They will both go for mcD with their dad and then we will all play IT monopoly.
I may have a "happy giving birth day" drink later.

Weepingwillows12 · 19/12/2020 10:48

Although I officially went on annual leave for Christmas yesterday, I am spending the day working so I can get some stuff done and not have to worry about it. If i make good time on that then i need to do a sort out of the kids rooms and toy room to free up space for this year. I have been putting this job off as always ends in tears (usually mine) when every toy I put in the box is argued over. "No I still play with that babies pull along truck all the time" despite being 7 and actually just wanting to watch tv all the time if I let him etc.

But once today is done, I get to relax!

TheChosenTwo · 19/12/2020 10:49

Not much. Dh has gone to get some more logs, we’ll probably go for a big walk this afternoon with the dc, then fire and steak dinner tonight. Trying to limit our contact with people after a Covid scare this week made us realise just how much ‘popping to the shop’ etc we had fallen back into. Decided we would stay away from as much as possible in order to have the Christmas we planned and have looked forward to for so long.
So basically, it’s a week of just the 5 of us but we’re happy with that. Just grateful to be home, well fed, safe, warm and comfortable really.

AtLeastThreeDrinks · 19/12/2020 10:55

Still lounging in bed atm! Will do a gentle workout in a bit (pg but need to move!) and a walk if the rain stops. This afternoon I’m sticking on a Christmas film and wrapping the presents. I really love wrapping so that’s an exciting afternoon for me! Tonight is homemade Caribbean curry with salsa and coconut rice.

louisethedisease · 19/12/2020 10:55

I'm getting the house clean and washing done. Then a trip to the supermarket for bits, dog walk this afternoon and wrap a few presents later on .

Kumquatsquash · 19/12/2020 11:03

Ds turned 4 today 🥳 I spent a month agonising over his gifts as I don't have a lot to spend. I found the perfect gifts and wrapped them up, decorated the living room and bought a helium dinosaur balloon. He practically burst into tears at the sight of the dinosaur balloon as he was so happy and hasn't put it down since. Me and DD had to beg him unwrap the rest of his presents.

In an hour we're going to a farm cafe for lunch to feed some chickens.

Kumquatsquash · 19/12/2020 11:07

A very happy boy! 🦖

It's the last Saturday before Christmas! <eek> What are you all doing today?
lucysmam · 19/12/2020 11:13

Kumquat that's made me smile. Happy birthday to your ds! & a happy birthday to your dd Bonkerz (I now have that in my head Grin ).

Nothing im in isolation till Tuesday then I have 3 weeks work to do in 3 days so resting whilst I can... also eyeing up my bottle of wine cooling the fridge ready for this evening 😎

CremeEggThief · 19/12/2020 11:14

I got up just before 10.30, put a wash on and had porridge and tea. About to have a second cup of tea while amending my online Christmas food shopping that's coming tomorrow. Then I will have a shower and leave about 1.30, as I have to post one last present and then I have my waxing and nails appointments.
Who knows after that! Oh, I have to wrap a last present for DS too.
