Tight chest with tonsillitis/penicillin?

So I’ll start by saying I’m COVID negative.

I have terrible tonsillitis. Really swollen throat, lots of puss, swollen glands etc. Doctors prescribed penicillin and I took my first dose yesterday morning. Last night my chest became quite tight (no cough) it’s remained the same since. I had a COVID test yesterday with negative result today.

Could the tight chest be the penicillin? Part of the tonsillitis? I don’t want to bother the doctor and Google suggests trying an antihistamine. I’ll obviously call the doctor if it gets any worse but just wondered if anybody else has experienced this?

Thanks

I had this taking penicillin after having my wisdom teeth out. The doctor gave me a inhaler as my chest got very tight. I’ve never had it since but I’ve not taken penicillin again, I believe it’s relatively common.

Last year at this exact time I got flu and pneumonia and had 3 courses of antibiotics. I had a really tight chest then and put it down to the pneumonia but it feels similar this time. I’m not coughing at at all, no flu or symptoms just like somebody is sat on my chest.

It makes me feel better that somebody else has had the same. I’ll try an antihistamine.
