3am wake up, random worries

I often wake up during the night with really random worries, that then keep me awake. This morning, it was thinking about what a sad childhood Beethoven had!!!! No idea what brought that on... anyone else? Grin

The thing is, it's always completely unsolvable things, so I can't get back to sleep!. A psychologist would have a field day...

Always!

And now my baby wakes at 2:45 for a feed. She's right back to sleep after and there's me, laying awake for the next hour worrying, going over old conversations in my head and convincing myself that the world is going to come crashing down around me.

Interestingly, I used to work night shifts in mental health units. 3am was my busiest time. Everyone up and about worrying and wanting a chat.

Yes- your body is not meant to be awake and your brain interprets your physiological state as threat.

Two things that help

a) acknowledging the above (eg you wake up worried your credit card has been cloned - acknowledge this worry is due to being awake at 3am, not due to evidence that the card was cloned)

b) listen to podcasts to stop the worry cycle

Just dn't listen to radio 4 as in the middle of the night they play the World Service and you might wake up to someone's personal story of a machete attack or something.

Grin. Not just me, then. I do the old conversations thing as well, usually from years ago with people I don't even know anymore. That's interesting, motherofcrocodiles. Sounds reasonable .
