Has anyone got a new passport recently? How long did it take?

Just that really.

Dh has to travel in January for work but his passport won’t have 6 months on it. The website says “takes up to 3 weeks”, which I presume will be longer due to Christmas / New Year. But then maybe not many people are applying at the moment?

Anyone with current experience? Thanks in advance.

I got one in the height of lockdown 1, just after they announced the country reopening and everyone rushed to get one. It took a month.

I got one at the start of this week. It took exactly a week. I had my photo taken at a gov approved photographer who up load it to the passport website for you & filled in the application on line & it was exactly a week before my new one arrived. I sent the old one back 1st class recorded delivery.

Same as PP - exactly a week. I was amazed.

We did ours last week and for some reason dh's processed in Liverpool and mine in Newport. His arrived back in 6 days. I've had an email to say mine is being processed and will be here very soon. Impressive.

Mines taken longer; but it did include a name change so that might be why.

Took a week to get to them (first class signed for!) but once it arrived there it was done within a few days. This was about 3 weeks ago.

Actually just checked again. They received the old one 25th Nov (posted on the 16th), sent out the new one 26th Nov. Super quick, just the postal delays to contend with.

My new passport was delivered by TNT. My old one just came through the letter box 5 minutes ago!

You should also be aware that there are extensive delays with Royal Mail and first class parcels and letters are taking ages to arrive.
