Tell me your Aldi secrets please! Started shopping there recently for our weekly shop and get everything we need there. Wondering what hidden gems you have all found?

Cereal and crisps I'm especially finding difficult to get decent quality of if anyone has any good ideas.

I find their steaks are usually good quality although Lidl are usually a big better. Very good quality and good value though. The most expensive bacon is not much different to Sainsbury’s ‘Taste the Difference’ yet it’s only £1.99 compared to about £3.50. The pretend Bailey’s and Malibu is great. I don’t think it’s as cheap as it used to be though. We tend to start our shopping there, buy what we can and then finish off in Sainsbury’s.

I love their washing power. The green box almat powder is excellent for stains though I bought the lavender one this morning for a change.
All the cleaning stuff is good.

I've never found enough to do a weekly shop - eg so many veg and fruit just not there. I do my weekly shop elsewhere and pop in yo Aldi when I go to the chemist opposite and buy a few odds and ends. I've yet to find anything I'd make the journey for though, oh the No2 candles do smell like Jo Malone Lime and Basil even though the perfume doesn't last but very good value.

I think it varies store to store but my local Aldi’s fruit and veg is always excellent and lasts for ages.
I Love their specially selected prawn cocktail crisps (sharing bag, not tried their regular multipack crisps).
Their knock off version of Riveta Thins are delicious.
Recently converted to Aldi’s Herbal Essence imitation shampoo and conditioner and also a shower foam.
I can’t go without a request from my mum for a bag of their skin on oven chips!
Also a big fan of their elderflower sparkling water.

The caramel ganache stars - part of the Christmas range - are incredible.
Pizza bases for 89p
Another vote for skin on chips from the freezer
The sea salt lentil crisps
And the Verdicchio white wine for £3.99 is a great bottle of Italian wine 👍🏼

drumst1ck · 18/12/2020 19:22

The pizza bases and skin on chips are very appealing...going to have to search for those next time! Thanks for all the suggestions so far!

I like their organic porridge oats, Tru bars, barbecue ribs, Pinot Grigio blush, Baron Amarillo Rioja, their fake MB hand soap, Belgian buns, fish burgers, sausage patties for our weekend sausage and egg McMuffins. I could go on.

DamsonJamFan · 18/12/2020 19:37

Jaffa cakes- better than McVities

Prettybubblesintheair · 18/12/2020 19:39

The Christmas nougat they have in at the moment is delicious, the creme brûlée one is my favourite and I’ll be bereft when they no longer do them!

MrDarcysMa · 18/12/2020 19:42

They also sell toasting muffins which are perfect for this and I have egg rings for the fried egg. Bit of plastic cheese and you’re away!

The cast iron kitchenware is brilliant and I even bought a wooden garden bench with a lift-up table in the middle for £60.

WhatWouldYouDoWhatWouldJesusDo · 18/12/2020 22:41

They do this gooey, chocolate brioche in a tin and it is amazing. It's the best thing I've ever eaten........if I'm feeling fancy I turn it into bread and butter pudding

Lurleene · 18/12/2020 23:42

Multipacks of Jive bars aka fake Twix. You can buy a multi pack for less than a single Twix.

TiptopJ · 18/12/2020 23:50

If you like hummus they've bought out a Christmas one with cranberry and chestnut. Its the nicest hummus I've ever eaten.

drumst1ck · 19/12/2020 08:17

@CaveMum thank you!! I'll enjoy that morning reading

Can anyone tell me if their Aldi has the melting snowmen chocolate bombs? I tried at the local one the other day and they said they'd never had any. They aren't on the website - it says in shops only, but I don't want to go to the further away one if it's something that has actually been unavailable in shops for a while anyway.

(Where else to get cheap ones that might look kind of present-like? I liked the snowmen idea. And they seem hard to find generally, so I had hopes for Aldi!)

eosmum · 19/12/2020 10:34

Mine did but in Dublin, they sold out weeks ago though.
