One thing I like about FB is it shows you memories from this time last year and previous years, its what has kept me going, remembering I had a life before the restrictions and helps me focus on when this is all over and hopefully back to normal.

I am being nosey just asking if you remember where you where or what you were doing last year.

I was in Tenerife, it was my last day and we visited some penguins and spotted a mysterious couple of penguin thieves. It did make me laugh at the time.

I loaded it on to my sons old you tube account (fake name so not outing)

May make you smile too, can you share what you were doing last year too - Light hearted thread hopefully :)

I was on my last week at work in work before my 2 weeks off for Christmas. I prefer wfh.
We were excited about seeing our friends and had decorated our office beautifully. Lots of treats in the office. Pub lunches.

WhatAreWordsWorth · 17/12/2020 21:41

That made me smile, OP! Smile

A memory popped up for me a couple of days ago. We went out with family for a lovely festive meal and to the panto afterwards. It was mine and DH’s first panto and we loved it! We were so excited to go again this year!

I’m really looking forward to some normality again soon, and I desperately hope the entertainment/hospitality industries manage to recover.

Packing for the annual Xmas trip to spend the weekend with relatives at the other end of the country. Secretly relieved we don't have to do it this year, and looking forward to a restful weekend of Christmas preparations that I don't normally get.

ShirleyPhallus · 17/12/2020 21:42

I was very heavily pregnant and spending my days eating mince pies and rolling in and out of the bath like a killer whale in seaworld

I’m obviously very glad DD is here but I wouldn’t mind just one of those relaxing days now!

Pieceofpurplesky · 17/12/2020 21:46

I went to see the penguins there and it was like happy feet they were so sad.

We had just been to see a Star Wars film.

nomorecrumbs · 17/12/2020 21:47

I was getting over a flu-like bug, so I looked tired, but my hair was amazing! Was seeing my friends every day for Christmas drinks/shopping, and packing for a skiing trip.

namesnamesnamesnames · 17/12/2020 21:49

Being the end of term, I was joyfully watching the school children perform their carols and fun Christmas songs in the school church, watching plays, joining in with festive activities with my own children and the school community where I work.

I miss that greatly this year.

HullBrian · 17/12/2020 21:50

We were at Center Parcs for Winter Wonderland 😞

Neolara · 17/12/2020 21:53

Feeling incredibly stressed, planning and prepping to feed 18 people for the weekend before Xmas followed by planning and prepping to feed 12 people for another 48 hours over Xmas.

In many ways, this Xmas is going to be a whole lot less stressful. Usually it's just very hard work and really that enjoyable.

Comforting a drug withdrawing baby. That same baby is now with his adopters and is a very happy baby.

Phyzzy · 17/12/2020 21:57

I was just crawling to the end of chemotherapy for breast cancer. So in spite of all the horror of this year I am feeling so much better than a year ago.

Blughbablugh · 17/12/2020 21:57

It was the eve before my 37th birthday. My birthday was amazing, haircut in the morning, then met my husband for a lovely lunch in an actual restaurant! Then we went off to see my favourite band play which was awesome. Lots of alcohol and just a generally fab day and night! This year I am on the eve of my 38th birthday, no meal out, no live music and I can't even drink as I'm 11 weeks pregnant! Sad

I used to organise skiing trips, mainly for school parties and used to go on educational visits, but do you know what's embarrassing, I cant ski, I used to enjoy the Après Ski though. Something for you to plan for when this is over. :)

I was in Lithuania.
Pictures on timehop show me having a great time not knowing what was about to happen a couple of months later!

That is such a lovely ending, and very satisfying for you to know you did what you did and the result

Now you have worried me, I thought they seemed happy but maybe you are right, rethinking it now

Not quite this day but we went to Lapland for a day trip just before Christmas last year. It was SO frivolous and ridiculous to go for a day but I'm so glad we did, especially in light of having holidays cancelled this year! It was just amazing and I'd love to go back for longer.

That sounds lovely, I havent been to a panto in years, the last time my DC were small and I took them to see Postman Pat at the Theatre my son screamed hysterically when Reverand Timms appeared. I dont think he coped with the larger than life childrens characters with booming voices so sort of avoided pantos with him after that.

We did a lovely trip to Whipsnade zoo to visit Father Christmas there. We made it extra special by staying in a hotel overnight. We also did our annual panto visit the weekend before.

I love seeing my Facebook memories pop up but several times I've shed a tear remembering what we are missing and how relaxed we all were then. Right now 12 months ago feels like a lifetime.

Jenasaurus · 17/12/2020 22:08

Lindy2 Yes I also shed a tear today at some of mine, its quite emotional looking back isnt it
