One thing I like about FB is it shows you memories from this time last year and previous years, its what has kept me going, remembering I had a life before the restrictions and helps me focus on when this is all over and hopefully back to normal.

I am being nosey just asking if you remember where you where or what you were doing last year.

I was in Tenerife, it was my last day and we visited some penguins and spotted a mysterious couple of penguin thieves. It did make me laugh at the time.

I loaded it on to my sons old you tube account (fake name so not outing)

May make you smile too, can you share what you were doing last year too - Light hearted thread hopefully :)

That sounds a busy time. Do you still work in a nursery now? If so how have you found it. My DD works in a nursery and has found it OK in the main but very busy and in the beginning quite anxious.

Yes still there. We're the same, very busy. It's a little bit strange now with bubbles so neither the children or staff mix like we used to but they've adapted at children do. Tomorrow is our Christmas party so separate ones for each bubble, our Santa isn't allowed in but we'll not let them down we have cunning disguises ready ho ho ho!

Trying to come to turns with a round of IVF failing dismally. Mentally and physically feeling like shit. Trying to figure out what to do for work -l was about to quit my job in a world of depression and poor motivation

DS1 was poorly. A week in bed poorly with glands swollen up like a hamster. He wasn't right for weeks and not on full power for a couple of months.

I was doing the last touches to DIY in bedrooms before carpets were fitted a couple of days later. Good job as it gave us a spare bedroom for 2.5 months before DH repurposed it ..

This time 10 years ago I went to the panto... then to a check on labour ward... then another check in the morning... then posted on fb about my pub lunch to not be suspiciously quiet... then finally baby came lunchtime the next day... He's still a faffy, tardy sort Xmas Wink

Thats interesting as my DD says its the same as before COVID except more cleaning and less contact with the parents, but she still changes their nappies, picks them up for a cuddle, has them sneeze in her face etc. so the children still have the same experience, the differences are the staggered drop offs (although my DD says she then sees the parents all congregating together after the drop off so pointless really)

They haven't had any cases in the nursery, although one of the children had a brother that was positive I think they have been lucky, slightly more concerned as we are in the South East and the cases are rising rapidly here.

I was in Hanoi, Vietnam, three months into my 'grown-up gap year', which I had saved up for for five years, then had to cut short and come home from Malaysia in February, just before I was due to travel to Australia.

I know it's a first world problem, but I'm still furious about it.

According to my photos, we were on a weekend away in London. Lots of Christmas light, hamleys, Harrods, British Museum and all the sights. Oldest DD and DH then went to watch football. Youngest DD and I went to the Tutankhamen exhibition.
The year before we took the sleeper train and visited the Cairngorm reindeer herd and there was so much snow.

I was flying to Japan. I went there to spend Christmas and New year with DS who was working there. I look back on it now and think wow I had no idea what was to come this year!

Schools hadn't broken up yet this time last year so I was at work: I had 2.5 weeks' work in a school as an hlta. As the last couple of weeks are usually quiet I accepted the booking despite being a qualified teacher because it meant getting a semi-decent wage over Christmas.

As a family we'd been to a few Christmas events: local NT/EH places were lit up, we went to some Christmas markets, we had a couple of meals out and dh & I had been shopping together whilst our dc were being looked after by family.

This year I've been working a couple of days a week in one school, as a teacher, for the last 5 weeks, and a few days here and there in a private nursery but other than that we've done nothing and been nowhere apart from Tesco.

On this day last year I picked up my brand new car. I've not used it much in the past year, but I was so excited!

I was having a champagne Christmas lunch with the of my dearest friends, one of whom went back to her home country at the start of first lockdown and I haven't seen her since.
We have half a dozen Christmas rituals that we do every year as a family - not get togethers, just small things, and every single one of those is cancelled or impossible this year. Such small things but it reminds me how lucky and free we were.
