Is there a right way round for cards to go in envelopes?!

Is it right to have picture or reverse at the 'flap' side...or have you never given it any thought whatsoever?

(According to a recent recipient of a card, I am doing it the wrong way. I did not know there was a wrong way to put cards in envelopes, as long as you can close it)

My grandmother absolutely drilled in to us that it’s ‘picture facing the flap and spine to the top’. She was really fierce about it. No idea why!

Oh, I thought it was only me who thinks about these things.

I put open side up, so you don't accidentally cut the card in half with the letter opener and back at the front, so the picture doesn't show through the address.

It had just never even occured to me that there was a 'correct' way, and now there are so many different 'correct' ways it seems! Grin

This had made me smile 😁And seriously doubt all that I thought I knew 😳

I haven't actually posted my Christmas cards this year yet.

I'm now taking them all out of the envelopes and reinserting them the (apparently correct) way of facing the flap, with the spine in first. They are square cards and were all in differently until about 5 mins ago!

Sadly, I don't have any glitter... I would have liked 'D'B and SIL to have some in their card!
