Ds has a special request to have a ‘festive day’

We are in isolation awaiting test results, don’t really have anything specific in that shouts ‘festive activity’, he’s not sure what he wants to do. Any ideas? He should be at school having fun, he’s currently at home reading and doing a small bit of online learning!
Ps, if you’re isolating are you allowed in the garden? Is that a stupid question Confused

Lots of theatres are streaming their pantos this year. You can pay, then watch when it's convenient.

@TheChosenTwo

He’s now having a ‘festive shower’ - made festive because I’ve put a Christmas playlist on for him Grin
Heh I love that!
KarenMarlow3 · 17/12/2020 13:02

Get him making his own Christmas crackers. (Watch a YouTube video on how to do it). I did my own this year and it's fun. You can buy the snaps, hats and jokes, and I put a wrapped chocolate inside.

He just watched a panto at school on Tuesday (his last day before we went off) - I’ll
Ask if he wants to watch another.
He’s still splashing about in the shower singing along, we’ll do snowflakes and paper chains with some wrapping paper when he gets out, make the dough for the biscuits then fire, film, hot chocolates. Then we can make the biscuits and decorate them. That sounds like enough festive fun for one day Grin we have plenty more days to fill even if not in isolation as we aren’t planning on going out and about before Christmas to try and make sure we are as Covid clean as can be before seeing a few people around Christmas!

You could put on Christmas jumpers or hats, too.

RedBetty · 17/12/2020 13:16

Whilst we were isolating, we had a Christmas Market Day. We made street food, warm cider, as though we were out. Lovely day.

Love the idea of a festive shower. When the DC were little one of their favourite Advent Activities was to have a candle lit bath.

HollyandIvyandallthingsYule · 17/12/2020 13:19

Festive open sandwiches! Cut bread into triangles for Christmas trees, cover with filling (ham, cheese, egg salad, whatever), decorate with ‘baubles’ (tomato/cucumber/olives/etc), carrot stick for the trunk and hey presto!

See some Christmas lights: www.virtualtrips.io/tours/category/holiday

Definitely pop on the PJs for the movie!

TwentyViginti · 17/12/2020 13:40

Love the Christmas tree sandwiches idea!

festive origami reindeer bookmark

Just made these with a bunch of kids, huge success. HUGE! We had just white paper, not fancy, and coloured it in once it had been made. We used paper 10cm2, but i'd say up to 12cm2 is big enough. I made an example out of a squared-off bit of A4 and i think the BFG could use it Xmas Grin

If you have pop corn he can string the puffed kernels on a long string for the 🌲

TillyTopper · 17/12/2020 14:11

Blanket on the floor under the Christmas tree, turn all the lights off apart from the tree lights and have a picnic. Winner!

Christmas films, Christmas music and dance. Bake Christmas shaped cookies together. Wear Christmas hats. Make a snowman out of cotton wool and a jar. Make an extra paper chain with colour paper/old magazine. Have fun!!

Thanks everyone, we’ve managed to have a really fun filled festive day, the dc are just decorating the biscuits now.
Thank you for all your great suggestions although he just said to me the singing shower was the best thing ever - I thought it was quite boring personally, just a ruse to make him slightly more enthusiastic about having a shower Grin it really is the little things isn’t it?!
Paper chains and snowflakes are hanging in his bedroom, hot chocolate was drunk by the fire with Nativity and school sent through a version of a Christmas play made with a scene by each class which was really heart warming.
Still waiting for test results so possibly another home day tomorrow. We are all craving a lovely walk in the countryside!!
