Very late to the party - Zoom ideas for family

We haven't done Zoom family get togethers up to now. There's only really my household and my parents and we've used outdoor walks and the telephone.

However, I'm wondering if we could organise some sort of festive activity for Christmas Day - we've decided not to spend it together.

Something in lieu of the Annual Christmas Day board game.

Any ideas and how do you go about setting up something like that?

If there are less than 10 of you set up a quiz on Kahoot. If you write it you’ll need to share your screen so everyone can see the questions and then they use their own phone to choose their answers.

Or I’ve also played a virtual deal or no deal which works as a PowerPoint and one person just has it on their computer and shares their screen.

Another good one is Skribblio which is basically like virtual Pictionary. You’ll need to set up a game and share the link in the comments box so everyone else can join while you’re on a zoom call together.

I’d also probably consider upgrading to the premium zoom so you can go over the 40 minute limit

Macmillan charity have an online escape room available for a donation of your choice.

I did it as part of a group who were all in different houses, and really enjoyed it. I intend to do it with my teenage dc over the Christmas break because we love that kind of thing. Might be worth a look.

I have Teams on my work laptop, so I think I could use that, even though the others won't, if I set it up doesn't matter?

My colleague mentioned she had done a kind of hunt the random object game with her family over Zoom and her kids loved it. So someone picks something for both families to go and find in their house and the first family to find it wins. Not sure if this is more for when both families have kids.

Oohh yes we did a kind of supermarket sweep game a while ago as well. Everyone is split into two teams and they take turns to choose something the other team has an allocated amount of time to find. The team with the most items wins.
We did things like you’re most embarrassing item, something beginning with A etc
