Friend had a phone called from these nhscarediscounts.co.uk/
Offering him a full page ad for the price of a full page hes a builder.

Ive looked at the site and think it's dodgy!!! Because..

Their website isnt great.
Non of their social media symbols link to a page.
There doesn't appear to be any official registered number back to the NHS.

This email confirmation of the ad order isnt from a person it says from Press Team

Plus invoice attached giving order details had no costingson it

I think it's dodgy...anyone who rings you out the blue Hmm

There is no costing on the invoice attached.

I hope you havent paid any money out just incase it's a scam? Hmm what do you think???

Never heard of it. So I'm not clicking the link! But the main discount sites are called health service discounts and blue light card. So I would steer clear of that one.

Nowhere decent cold calls people to get them to take ad space.

But that doesn’t look at all legit.

OhCormoranAllYeFaithful · 16/12/2020 19:21

Mmmmmm - looks at this page.

Is the magazine print or digital? How can they evidence their claim about reach or circulation, as this appears only to be the number of staff.
I’d be wanting true evidence or reach, what end of canal sign report they could offer on digital views etc.

Ps I didn’t click the link, but out the name into google.

It may be legit, but I would want evidence of what I was getting, plus I would love to know their prices.

Overseasmom100 · 16/12/2020 19:49

Sorry I get why you wouldnt want to click on the link. The email says pay required within next 7 days or pay now get 5% off...as if they are going to give you a full page for a half page price plus another 5% ... Ive asked my friend how much they have quoted as the invoice didnt have any pricing on it at all...so not to show any proof I expect of tricking into paying money. Not heard back from friend!!!

It’s a crap site I’m afraid. Smile

Will it be geographically targeted? How many local impressions are they anticipating? For shitty online directories and things like this he really should only be paying about £20 a month and even that’s poor value.

OhCormoranAllYeFaithful · 16/12/2020 19:59

*canal sign should read campaign.

Either way, unless the half price offer equated to nothing I doubt I would pay, as I would want to give my bank details to an unknown online company.

Overseasmom100 · 16/12/2020 22:41

Yes agree too many red flags...

Do not let your friend sign up to this! These scams have been going on for years although I thought they had died out! I used to have to deal with a similar thing at work where these companies would call and tell me my boss had agreed to pay for a page in a police forces diary, or a fire services wall planner etc. Sometimes they even sent the actual wall planner, badly printed and usually with the details of our company lifted from God knows where, they would combine the company logo with the address of one of our offices and the phone number of another - in other words, not an ad that we had ever created or approved. As a reasonable-sized company my boss would just refuse to deal with them and leave it up to me to get rid of them and they were dreadful - aggressive, bullying and would fax through invoices with increasingly strident demands for payment. We got as far as them threatening court action on one occasion before they realised that we were not in fact going to cave.

Their Ts&Cs are also dodgy although as I am supposed to be writing Christmas cards and have about 20 to go I can't post further now but if you check them for yourself you will see they are biased heavily in the publication's favour.

Thank you everyone my friends decided against it!!!!
